Yeah that does bring a tear...but then I am a dog type of guy. I remember hearing during the rescue effort that there was a guy (maybe more than one) that wouldn't leave because they wouldn't let him take his dog on the bus. Anyone who has had a dog can relate I'm sure - the most loyal and undemanding companions you can ask for.
On the brighter side there was at least some work done for the stranded pets, I heard about (news or paper) some people from here in Edmonton that went down to rescue some of the stranded pets, mostly dogs I think. I believe it was organized by the humane society or SPCA or something.
