Voicemail greetings

I'm sure (maybe big assumption on my part) that most of us who are professionally employed have voicemail at work. If you do have voicemail do you change your greeting everyday, always have a generic greeting, only change it when you're away, didn't know you can change it, have your secretary change it or other?

My secretary chances it and daily writes down who left messages if someone called after hours. But the actual message certainly doesn't get changed often, as it's fairly generic.

My experience is having specific messages with dates, being outdated is something I would rather avoid. "Ie it's Tuesday January 6th and I'm away from my office..." and you called Jan 10th.

i hate jerkoffs who have 45 seconds of music on their outgoing message
that being said, i'm going to cut mine down to 40 seconds

I used to scour the net for funny short .wav files of TV shows, movies, commercials to have as a message on my cell phone. Home phone was just a generic "please leave a message"

Some old fukks who barely knew what voice mail was would have trouble with my messages. They'd be like WTF!!!! what is this bullshit!!!

I decided generic "I'm away from the phone and can't take your call right now" was the way to go.

PS: never include the word sorry in you message as in "sorry I can't take you call" Not my fukkin fault you called when you did. Sorry means weakness in the corporate world. I ain't sorry for nothing!!!!!!!
