I am looking to buy a new video/graphics card for my computer.
I want to get something not high end,but not really cheap either.
I do have an older computer.
I was looking at the BFG 7600 GT At NCIX for $135. Is this any good?

Where can I go to find out more?Anitec?
What should I look for? I do play games, but not a lot. Mainly for movies and graphics work.
What about power supplies, will I need a new one?

I am willing to spend about $250.

Get this. Plenty of power for games and most important it has HDCP for future HD TV watching.

i'm currently using EVGA 7600GT, i think it's the same as the BFG. able to run world of warcraft and call of duty 2 without any problems.

You quoted the 7900 GS with HDCP. I'm not sure HDCP is really a necessity right now or in the near future. Also, I haven't heard a lot of good things about the "GS".

Though, I do think eVGA makes some great cards. I used to have a eVGA 6600GT and have recently upgraded to an eVGA 7900GT which has been great, though a little pricey, but I splurged on myself.

While I was shopping for a new card, I looked long and hard at the 7600GT and I would have bought it, except for a great deal on the 7900GT that i got for a few dollars more.

If you can swing a good deal on the 7900-GT DO IT!
For a few extra bones you have a far better card, not HUGE better, but definately better for the long run.
GT is full pipes GS is reduced... go with GT.

Make sure the Power supply is adequate.

Questions for Ironhead:

What type of graphics card slots do you have? AGP or PCI Express?

How old is your computer? What OS(operating system) are you using?

What is the wattage of your power supply?

What video card do you currently have, and what type of performance do you expect the next card to deliver?

IMO at over $300 the 7900 seems a bit pricey for the casual gamer who is just in regular windows apps 75% of the time. The 7600 fills the bill nicely at under $200, but I wouldn't wanna go any lower.

The 7900gs ko with HDCP is better off for the adition of a blue ray DVD. It's not hard for a video card to last a year, so it makes sense to look ahead when purchasing comp technology. The hi-def DVD drives for PC's are out they just have to come down in price, and you can bet they will.

It's just like buying a new motherboard for example, I wouldn't touch one unless it handled quad core CPU's now.
