Vancouver Canucks getting away with speeding Tickets?

According to BCTV tonight, the West Vancouver Police told their officers to NOT give tickets to any Vancouver Canucks players if they are speeding. But one officer did issue a ticket to a Canuck player (probably Markus Naslund) no name given and he is no longer there working, looks like the West Vancouver are more criminal then anyone else, and it seems they should clean their own backyard first before they ask anyone to clean theirs.

If that goes to arbitration and what you say turns out to be true his/her superiors will be the ones "not working". A directive like that would have to come from senior management, or maybe from civilians. A line supervisor would never stick their neck out on something that stupid.

if i were a cop in west van i would base my decision to fine said vancouver canuck on how well they're doing in the standings.

imagine me pulling over markus naslund or whoever. i'd be sitting in my cruiser with the newspaper opened to the sports section checking where the canucks are in the division. if they're in the dumps the player gets fined, if they're in the top 8 he gets a warning. if they're doing reaaaaaaal shitty he gets a fine AND traffic school

when you hand the player back his license and registration you shake your finger at him and say something like "the only speed i wanna see outta you is coming out of your own end and through the neutral zone." or something witty like that

I work for CanWest Global so we have people who report on these things and have reliable sources.

I heard it was Donald Brashear and he was intentionally blocking a fire truck, weaving from lane to lane to prevent it from going around him. They radioed in the plate number and he was ticketed. The officer was then harrassed into leaving the force. If true, what kind of a bigger asshole is Brashear than I thought he was? If WV higher-ups cancelled the ticket they are even stupider.

Unbelievable.

Next thing you know, this year's hot free agent signing, Marc Chinaurd, will be seen leaving an apartment which is not his own. Word will spread like wildfire, "he's having an affair" they say! "Which affair?", others will chime in, "he's had several since he blew into town". His wife will suddenly want out of town, and they'll request a trade. They'll soon be off to Columbus, which will become an instant contender.

I have personally heard cops brag forevever that they pulled over such and such sports dude and how fast they were going how drunk they were how good looking the girl was that was with them etc. and I'm talking every major city in Western Canada. It always disgusted me but never surprised me:rolleyes:

While we are just "I think I heard' and "a firend told me", I remember hearing last week on CBC, (I think) an interview with the, (then), West Van Chief of Police where he said "I am sick of the questions from Global on this - this policy, (not ticketing hockey players) was terminated over ten years ago..."

Take it for what its worth -

but does kind of remind me of the greatest reporter question ever.... "Senator, just when did you stop beating your wife???"

Cheers

Not saying true or false, but with the other kinds of behaviour that municipal police are getting away with these days, it would not be a suprise.
