I don't see any connection: human trafficking has always been a criminal offence in Canada, and it is still a criminal offence even in those countries where prostitution is legal. Bill C-36 or no Bill C-36, human trafficking has been and will be a criminal offence.
It's not about 'assholes' encouraging anything, it's about fascists in our Parliament using the example of these 'assholes' to persecute innocent people. It's like prosecuting people for playing soccer because it encourages the criminal activities of hooligans.
I'm not saying that human trafficking isn't and hasn't always been illegal.
My point was this guy was obviously forcing someone into prostitution unwillingly and living off the avails as well.
Thus reinforcing the stereotype that people like Joy Smith like to perpetuate, that the women in this profession are being forced into it against their will.
Which we all know does happen but represents a small percentage as opposed to the ladies who do this because they have chosen to of their own free will.
As you say yourself "it's about fascists in our Parliament using the example of these 'assholes' to persecute innocent people."
Cheers
