Who knew that our team sucking so bad this year would have an effect upon Woody Harrelson's part on True Detective?

The worst part is they aren't bad enough to get a top 3 pick.
Wouldn't matter if we did have a top three pic. Gillis would fuck it up anyways. :p

Then give it up in a shitty trade a couple of years later.

Listened to team1040 radio and host said aquillinis are very active owners. Even at the trade deadline war room they where very involved. Any gm who's hired by aquillinis would have to put up with their meddling. Wonder why majority of fans trash gillis but not owners?

So do you think Gillis is a great GM and could really make this team work without the owner's looking over his shoulder? All I see is a guy who had great assets who gave them away for a cup of coffee.

Every team in the league has active ownership. Trick is to look at the winning franchises and see what they are doing right. Detroit although struggling this year has had excellent management and their owner is involved, same with Chicago, same with LA, Anaheim, Boston and Pittsburgh to name a few. Billionaires bucking up approx $300M for a franchise and $60M salaries every year are interested to see if their investment is working for them or not.

Everyone knows assets where given away. Gillis was never a experienced gm even before his hire. He was given a contract extension by ownership. So someone is happy with his work. Hey I understand every team had active owners. But wondering if Vancouver has more than usual active owners? So should we let owners off the hook and blame everything on Gilli's? I've seen some crappy runned teams like Edmonton and islanders where the gm is kepted forever and ownership is never blamed. Have a feeling gillis will be here for awhile

Was last years trade deadline where aquillinis where at luongos door telling him he's going nowhere and they are shipping Schneider. Just saying are owners might be a little more active than most

Easier to fire a GM than an owner don't you think?

Oilers should be better with all the draft picks they have picked up over the years. I would blame shitty GM's on that one. Lowe and MacTavish have proven that being decent hockey players does not translate to being good GM's IMHO. I don't know much about their ownership now but it used to be a group of wealthy Edmonton businessmen and now is Katz who runs on line drugstores etc.

Islanders have a weird owner in Charles Wang who threw money at contracts that made peoples eyes bug out. He hired Milbury and Garth Snow as GM's - enough said.

Suffice it to say ownership has had an impact on those franchises.

Ok I get it, you are strongly supporting Gillis and think the Aquilini's have to go right? Gillis will be here for a while unless Aquilini wants to cough up $5M to get rid of him.

No I'm hardly supportive of gillis and wanting ownership to go. However I don't think Gillis deserves 100% of the blame. In fact day one I thought Gilli's should never been hired. He's a ex player agent with no experience. I don't realistically feel ownership will sell any time soon and they are here to stay.

Just think some fans are narrow minded and blaming it all on the gm. Hey I want Gilli's gone but the aquillinis may hire another boob for a gm.

My gut says torts, gillis, and the core will remain the same lol. Only reason Linden takes the job is because he wants the money. Even though Trev has tons of $

I was under the impression that the Schneider deal was not in the discussions at last year's trade deadline, seemed to catch everyone by surprise
on draft day.

Badger will know,can you comment?
