Travellers Inn? How are they?

Hi,

I am visiting Victoria for the first time next week. I have been looking around for a reasonably priced hotel, but most stuff I see is a little expensive this time of year it seems. I can stay at this "Travellers Inn" for a decent price, but I don't know anything about them. They seem to be a chain of some sort, but I have never seen one of their hotels. Normally I try to stay in a places that are no less than 2 1/2 stars, but sometimes it is not possible.

How are these hotels in general? Can anyone compare it to an American chain that I would be more familiar with?

Would this hotel be acceptable to recieve an incall? I will obviously make the final decision on that myself once I check in, as I am a bit picky about these things. But, in general are indies and agencies willing to go there for an appointment?

Thanks,

There are something like 9 Travellers Inns in Victoria - each is/was separately owned before joining the TI group so each hotel is quite different from the others. The Travellers Inn Downtown is the best and, though basic, is a comfortable room. I wouldn't hesitate recommending that one for a budget conscious traveller, but the others I would not.

i have to agree to ftg; with a budget the downtown location of travellor's inn would be your bet. Also that is the only one I would recommend out of the locations in victoria. The others are like what Tahlulahpalooza described.

An option for a higher end hotel may save your peace of mind for peace, security, cleanliness, and a little more sound proofing for you "tourist" activities while you are here.

Thanks for the info everyone.

I think I will end up staying at this hotel. I'm a young guy and I'm sure I can deal with it for 2 nights. But, it looks doubtfull based on your input that any SP will visit me there. I will have to go to a incall I suppose.

Which downtown location?

Hi,

There are two Travellers Inns in close proximity. One is at 1850 Douglas and the other is at 1961 Douglas ("City Center" I believe it is called).

Are they both ok? Pros, cons on each?

Thanks!

Gem in Victoria...

In the off season I have found the Bedford Regency to be the same price as the travellers but way ahead in class and service. They are located on Government St, right downtown.

Their rooms are small, but tastefully decorated in old style english and the beds are to die for. By far the best value in the city as far as I am concerned, and I have seen a few rooms ;)

Have a great visit in Victoria!

Hugs and kisses

Not true! In fact, the only reason that I have stayed there is for outcall appointments with SPs. They have commented on the fact that there is very little hassle at the front desk for visitors as long as they have the name of the registered guest.

I have stayed at the Travlers Downtown.

http://www.travellersinn.com/inn_downtown.htm

I found it to be clean, the bed to be comfortable (king size) and the staff to be pleasant. Inexspesive in the off season and reasonalbe in the high. A block from China town so the food is good and only a 15 minute walk to the Empress. Cab fair to the downtown core is about $6.

The first time I stayed it was on the ground floor, and the last time it was on the third which I liked much better. I did not get any noise from the neighbors. I also requested a room on the parking lot side which was a bit quiter than the road side.

Not a high end hotel, but worked for me. And no one on staff said word one about my "visitors".

But the hotel is not what I remember of my visits.

What I mostly remember is Violet one afternoon and Mia the next evening.

This is the hotel where "Violet, and the rules of room 367" and "Mia, and the rules of room 367" took place.

Room 367, Violet, Mia and me......:) :)

The two are kitty corner from one another. Good thing about City Centre one is that it has a pool, lounge and dining room. Other one does not. Good thing about 1850 (I May be getting them reversed) WAS that it was just up the block from SU :p So...If your legs were left weak, at least you did not have to cross the street twice to get back safely.
