just wanted to let everybody know this year's Tour is approaching...

http://www.letour.fr/2009/TDF/COURSE/us/le_parcours.html

I will provide analysis before, during and after this year's event...

this year's event has some added interest, owing to the fact that Lance Armstrong is attempting a comeback...

oh I know, the usual assortment of ne'er-do-wells will say, why would I watch the Tour de France, there's no Vancouver Canucks in the race:rolleyes:...

rest assured, this is a compelling event...

will keep you posted...

have a nice weekend...

OK, NOW you got my attention! What pretty color of jacket does the leader get to wear in this race?

And I just love those helmets, turn them around and they could double for a good dickharness. ;)

this just in...

the 20th stage has been completed...

Menchov has won this year's Giro...

they don't wear jackets...

they wear jerseys...

in the Giro the leader wears the pink jersey...

I trust peggers like you, Hubba and Trackstar can explain dickharness techniques;) ...

Sure, it's real easy! You just put it on, sit back and enjoy the view, the girl does all the work. ;)

So it's a jersey eh? I always wondered, that thing gets passed around for 23 days....does it ever get washed?

HAHAHA the tour de France, my grandparents saw part of it one year, and brought me back a replica yellow jersey. Problem is, I was 19 and probably around 200 pounds. They are meant to fit guys much smaller. I looked like a yellow sausage. Skin tight and didn't go down enough to cover my belly button. I still have it, think I will bring is to my next sp visit.

just wanted to let everybody know that as soon as Versus releases the TV sked of this year's Tour I will post a link...

here's an interesting read in the meantime...

https://www.active.com/cycling/tour...l_Lead_Astana_at_the_2009_Tour_de_France_.htm...

So do you cycle?
Or actually find it a good television, spectator sport?
I find most of it pretty dull.
I do like when they have individual time trial stages.
Then you see who really is the best biker, not who has the best team.

tour de france

at least it's 100 times more engaging to watch than baseball!

hell ya! Tour de France is an underrated sport because we here in Canada have been programmed to live on hockey and most sport south of the border.
I cringe at the thought of the Winter Olympic with the exception of hockey.

I also have a soft spot for Formula One ever since watching Jacque Villeneuve
at his best. more strategies in this sport than baseball.

thank you for the thoughtful response...

not a serious biker, just recreational...

love the sport though, for too many reasons to list...

phenomenal athletes in a specialized way...

steroids and blood doping have put a black cloud over the sport...

sprinters have the the ability to generate huge wattage over a short periods of time i.e. Robbie McEwan...

climbers, i.e. Alberto Contador, can chew up Category 1 climbs and leave riders like Robbie McEwan in their wake...

a top time-trialer eg. Cadel Evans, can hold 30+MPH on a bike for up to one hour...

it is a team sport, i.e. domestiques...

to be continued...

Too bad Valverde got kicked out because of his doping ban in Italy.

Personally I think Contador will win for sure, Astana is way too strong and he's been preparing for this specifically all season.

I just hope they have a clean race this year as the last few years have been a real gong show.
