To shave or not to shave? Question for the ladies.

Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
I come from a line of rather hairy men. I was shaving at 14 and started getting chest hair when I was 12.
As I matured into my 20's and on into my 30's I always had a moderately hairy chest that the ladies seemed to enjoy.
Now that I am in my 40's, my fears about evolving into my father have started to come true and I am experiencing a bit more body hair than I'd like. Not Planet of the Apes hairy but more than I'd like. I certainly don't want to be that guy at the beach that makes everyone go Eeewwwww!
I've always trimmed my privates and am now contemplating starting to shave my back, chest and abdomen.
What do you ladies think? What would you prefer? A man who may be a bit hairier who leaves it that way or one who shaves?

Back hair isn't the greatest, but i'd opt for waxing instead....Shaving your back could definitely be difficult, not to mention time consuming...
In the "40 Year Old Virgin" the scene where he got waxed was real and un-rehearsed. If it a painfull as it was in the movie , I would rather be hairy.

I'm with Anna, DO NOT SHAVE you body

First, it's just weird. And second, it will look bad by the 3rd day and I'm sure you don't want to have to shave your entire body every day.

I had a boyfriend who had a lot of chest hair...it got a bit overwhelming sometimes but rather than shave he trimmed like once a week. He kept it long enough that it looked natural but he was not a giant furry monster :)

Chest hair is hot! And feels great! I love it! If you want to get rid of your back hair, sugaring or nair is less painful than waxing, but waxing is the most effective and long-term! :)

I would never ever shave my body besides the pubes. Years later you will have double the amount of hair than what you have now. Waxing... maybe. I'm kind of hairy my self, not going to lie. I started to shave when I was I think going into grade eleven.

Only one statement to this solution:

We are who we are.

My thoughts would be to shave the pubes (everything will feel much better that way anyway) and just clipper the body. Set your hair clippers to a #1 setting, and trim it up. No stubble, not itching, and you will look neat, tidy and groomed.

What do you think women do all the time to please you? If a woman could do it, suck it up and prove you're a real man! :p

As for hair, chest hair is fine, I reckon. Nothing wrong with that! Trim or shave the chest and pubes, wax the back and if you have bum hair, wax that too!!

Lmfao. I would wax my back but my cousin told me waxing is the same as shaving? like it comes back faster and thicker but eventually the hair will stop coming in perm.?

Nope, shaving makes the hair grow back faster, thicker, darker, & in greater quantities, but waxing makes it grow back more slowly, finer, & sparser.

The disadvantages to waxing, however, are:
- more expensive
- more painful
- you have to let the hair grow back between waxes, so you can't just be bare all the time
- can't always do it yourself (although I suppose shaving one's back would be tricky as well)

Leave it be

I had a visit with a client who shaved his chest, stomache and back. During the visit, when things started heating up I lowered my body down onto him and literally jumped when we made contact...OMG it was like hugging a porcupine. He hadn't shaved recently and his entire body was prickly...Ewww it totaly turned me off and made the session very difficult. Each time we got close I felt like I was being stuck with a needle.

If you take the first step and shave it, you're committed.

I've had my chest waxed twice...and that's it...it's too painful. Maybe if I didn't wait for the hair to grow so long but it's not worth it. Now, I use those body-groomers (using the 1 setting) and take it down. I do that for all body hair - except underarm where I remove the guard completely.
