Got back from a trip and cleared everything out except for my boarding pass. Apparently Air Canada did not get my Aeroplan number from the travel agent and the agent says that they do not keep a record of the eticket numbers. Apparently I need the eticket number and boarding pass to update my points. Is there another way around this?
TIA!
Go back to your Travel Agent and tell him/her that according to audit rules set out by IATA (and CCRA, by the way), they must keep records of any and all ticket numbers, paper or e-tickets with their company records for at least 7 years. If your ticket purchase was fairly recent, these should be kept with the current year's list and also within their accounting system. What the Travel Agent told you is pure BS. They should also be able to provide you with a paper copy of the e-ticket transaction, and all pertinent details. I know, I once owned a Travel Agency... They are just being plain lazy. It was their incompetence that put you in this predicament in the first place. Get yourself another Travel Agent from now on. The good ones get the job done right. Obtaining this information is your right, and they cannot withhold it from you! If they drag their feet, complain to:

Ask your agent for their address and phone number for the fun of it. That should grab their attention real fast.
The boarding pass is another story, but you can make enough noise with the airline to waive this requirement as your name should be on the passenger manifest.
