This comment bothered me a bit. It is on another thread, but I did not want to hijack the thread by getting onto another topic. Probably shouldn't bother with this but what the heck!

Well Dorothy - you are not in Kansas anymore. Even the Wicked Witch tries to look severe. It is part of her charm. If she looked like Goldilocks, do you think that she would get much business?
Having said that, and so to speak, got it out of my fingers, my question is.... Just what do you think these dommes are selling?
Before I rant on...... If, in your post, you were creating a personal reality and your were doing some self talk on the web,. ie Gee, I better not go to her. She is really scary. She make me do things I don't want to admit to myself that I want to do. She will dominate me. She might actually inflict pain on me. How could I explain it to myself. It will hurt. I will be so humilated. Gee she really looks severe. Hey - good for you and please accept my apologies.
On the other hand... if you simply think that she looks too severe, well Dorothy, it is like this.... Looking severe is simply how she sells the service she is offering to sell. It is advertising. I have met a few dommes professionally, and yes they all tend towards a severe look. After all, they are providing a service to the bDsm scene. Personally, I like the look - particularly black leather or latex. Hey, if the domme was smiling all the way through the play-date, the session would not work well for me. Frankly, I would be scared shitless. I would be really scared, because the only people I have heard about who smile when they inflict pain are psychopaths. So, if you want Her to look less severe, then this is something you chat about when you are arranging your session. I suspect that most Dommes could accomodate you. However, if during the session, she begins to smile, puts on a blond wig and then brings out the ram - don't say you were not warned!
Are they severe, mean, and nasty when they are not advertising or performing the agreed upon service. Probably a few are. However, I am willing to bet that most are just as normal as you and me (well maybe lets' forget that reference to you).
Speaking of being normal, here is a few more ramblings......
Dommes are people, this means that they should be accorded the same respect and courtesy that you would grant anyone else that you happen to meet.
Unless it is in a scene, foul language is not appropriate. Abusive: emails, text messages, and telephone calls are not really very considerate either.
Physical contact before, during, or after a scene is never appropriate - unless she has explicitly permited it. You do not own her body and should not even think about touching it. What you do own for the length of your sessions is: her skill, knowledge, intuition, tools, and experience to help you obtain your fantasy.
If you are going to cancel a session, phone ahead and cancel it. Do not waste their time wondering where the heck you are. Basically, just like a therapist or a massuse, Dommes have a skill set. To deliver the skill set, you need to be present. If you are not there, they do not get paid.
If they ask for references, don't be alarmed. There are some weird people out there and no one deserves to be non consensually hurt.
Thanks for letting me rant.
