The term "Roses"

I don't know why, perhaps because of the heat today but every time I see the term ROSES to denote Dollars it makes me want to smash my computer. I have no idea why but if bugs me like nobody's business! I refuse to see any girl that uses the term in an advertisement and I find it worse than running nails along a chalk board.

Discuss...like or dislike the term.

I think it's pretty lame.

I also hate it when they spell words with dollar signs. Like: "Let'$ $pend $ome time together"

We all know ca$h is involved, it just $eem$ $o tacky.

I can't stand it myself because of the apparent self deception. But here's some possible insight. You have to look at it from 2 points of view. First, from the intent of those who use it. Probably for them, they believe it adds a "touch of class" - perhaps denoting to themselves that what they are doing is elevated above what others are offering. They perhaps like to get the message to readers that they offer something "classier", and thus are also saying they expect to be treated "with class". Second, from the self-belief of those who use it. I am admittedly on murkier ground here, but I would hazard a guess that there is discord and discomfort within themselves to be associated with being used for sex, and would rather paint themself as a paid date and the romantic notions that entails (which is represented by roses).

who decided on roses anyway?

What about saying "bones" instead of roses?
300 bones.
Sounds a little better, no? LOL

I agree, it's lame..

And so is writing "cum" instead of "come". UGH.

That actually makes me want to bang my head against the wall a few hundred times to forget how painfully annoying it is.

Is that supposed to be clever??? Perhaps it was a little amusing the first time someone ever used it (maaaaybe), but you know, after about a million times... um.. not clever, not original, just hella tacky. Just a thought.

Roses And Cum are OUT! :D

The image I get from Roses is of someone in their Trailer Park who is offering sexual services and who deems themselves a romantic, but romance to them is a bottle of luke warm white wine from a box, highheels and stickings (but they missed the rip in the back of the stockings when they put them on), their lipstick is a little crooked and they have yellow stains on their fingers. Roses just gives me a feeling of cheapness...I don't get class from it at all.

Miss Shay, no offence but using kisses although it may have been original I am afraid it will become the next "roses", stop using it before it does!

Everyone knows that when one posts on this site, or on CL or whatever under escorts or massage sections that one is offering sexual services of some sort of another for cash. Using other terms to denote the amount of cash is not necessary and is a big turn off for some (me...and maybe a couple others...we'll see with this thread).

Miss Bijou, bones is better, i thas a somewhat sexual tone to it (ie BONER) and bones has been around for years as a term for dollars.

Using CUM in an add is also cheesy, like cheap porn. "Cum over, I'm so wet right now"...right....the only person who believes that has had too much to drink and should not be engaged in sexual intercourse. If you can't think up something witty, intelligent or meaningful then don't bother. Stick to the basics.

"I've got big tits, they will make you drop your load fast, so come over, give me $200 and cum in five minutes and then get the fuck out because you smell funny and once you drop your load you become an asshole like all other men"

That's what I want to see as an ad.

The last thing that bugs me, is all the ads saying from the Asian Micros with fake pics of Japanese AV Idols. Their girls do NOT look like that (generally) and they are NOT japanese!! You will never find a Japanese girl working in a micro...maybe some Chinese or Philipina's who lived their and can speak a bit but you will be very hard pressed to find a Japanese girl in the industry in Vancouver (especially a Japanese born there).

This is probably no better than anything else previously or currently used, but what about using the word "clams" for "$"?

It has the money connotation, the sexual connotation, and a definite "West Coast" flavour....:D

Sorry, I think the heat's gotten to me too...

It's been discussed before, but I also hate to see reviews where the reviewer states the amount he paid as "$$.5", or "two browns and one red". Just state the amount as $250, for f#@k sake!!

As for the quasi-word "cum", I don't mind it when it's used to denote an orgasm, but when SPs use it in ads instead of "come", e.g. "cum and see me", I agree it's cheesy.

The demon that is Craigslist

I think because CL is flagging and removing any ad that makes reference to $$$ exchanged for 'company' the girls are starting to do as the US CL and refer to dollars as roses.

I agree and find it very irritating but in order to get their rates out there it seems they have no choice.

Bones is a good one Bijou... I think I'll change my rate page to include that word!!

If it was that easy than maybe people would. Did you know that MOST of the BUSTS on CL are because girls are saying 100 DOLLARS two DOLLARS yada yada, and I heard that the cops can charge you for communictaion and SOMETHING ELSE. Thats is what I was told form a girlfriend of mine. I used to just say DOLLARS TOO...........right up untill she got arrested.
what about Donation?? i have a idea let call it "frog" instead! :D

Using the $ sign would get the ladies busted by the Police.

Not seeing ladies because they are trying to do their jobs without getting busted is immature and rather dumb of you.

At least the ladies can add another one to do the DO NOT SEE LIST.

Sorry about this Miss Bijou. I usually do enjoy reading your posts but I've now seen this in a couple of your posts and I just can't resist.

How about...

"XXX (dollar amount) BONES for XX (number of minutes) with my (not literally MINE, but a figurative, hypothetical one) CLAM"?
