Refund is actually bad

It means you have overpaid your taxes and loaned it to the government interest free.

Not necessarily true. Most refunds come as a result of a variety of deductions that CRA has no idea about until your return is filed. The only way around this is having CRA expand its role as "big brother" and watch us more closely - every time we scratch our ass, donate to charity or contribute to an RRSP. I'll take a refund of my tax dollars anytime!

Yeah, I usually get a good healthy refund thanks to RRSPs and being able to claim interest payments on loans for investment purposes.

Also, I've been using TaxWiz online for the past couple of years. It's so easy...just answer the questions, plug in the data from your T slips to the online versions, and it's all calculated for you.

Hey Wilde, I know this is off topic but I just noticed your avatar of Andy Lau... I had such a HUGE crush on him when I was a teenager.... YUMMY!! hehe!

 Well, I came back to take another look at Andy... So, I guess I still have a HUGE crush on him... *giggles*

Hi Daisy, did you watch him in action in the "Infernal Affairs" trilogy or "The House of Flying Daggers"? Anyway, my avatar was taken from the 1st Infernal Affairs movie which is also the best of the three. :)

For about the 10th year in a row, I have to pay extra again. I look at that as a good thing, if I wasn't making it I wouldn't be paying. Despite some of the outrageous government waste, we should none of us begrudge paying our way to maintain this as a strong "have" nation. After you have visited or lived in countries without a relatively fair tax system, you can see the benefits of the Canadian system far outweigh any of the negatives.

Oh oh, hellimgood, you actually said something good about the federal government here in Canada. All the whining "oh poor us, if only we didn't have the feds ruining our lives" types will be out in force to disagree with you, I'm sure. The people who bitch and complain about this country drive me nuts. They need to go spend six months in a third world country and get a clue as to just how incredibly lucky we are to be living in a place like this.

I don't think the majority of ordinary Canadiens do not feel thank-full to live here at all. I think the resentment is aimed (fairly) at the pure Arrogance of our member's of parliment.

Paying taxes is part of the privledge of living here, it is how they are used that get's people upset!

And I second Daisy's comments fully. I work hard, dont mind paying my fair share of taxes to live in this country, and before any of you whining monkeys say anything I am a full Caucasian 5th generation Southern Albertan red blooded male. Dont like it, feel free to move elsewhere.

I too believe in paying my fair share, as long as my money is spent wisely and efficiently. I also believe in fair taxation, which is why I think it's time Canada moved to a flat tax system. It's already been in Alberta for the past 3 years.
