Now that we voted a new government in we should all get ready for some more of this:
LOL, it would be more accurate to have a third story labled "Party Insiders" and a basement level labeled "election volunteers"
In Burnaby, I took stock of the lunches sent out for the volunteers sitting in the polling places. The NDP sent a bottle of water, a small bag of chips and an apple. The Liberals sent out a small sandwich. The Conservative volunteers got nothing.
When I went back to my campaign's office, I discovered that the party insiders had eaten pretty well, in fact they couldn't eat all the food available.
I think that this may be the reason that none of the campaigns was able to recruit a person for every poll. Most of the polling stations had one member of each party trying to keep track of who had voted. The Conservatives had one person trying to cover two or more polling places. None of the partys could get a person for the count in every poll.
With most well meaning volunteers, experiancing being shit is not something that they wish to repeat.
