Bev. Mia. Sam. Bo. Sia. Via. Ava. Etc. Yan. Ev.

Any SP who wants to avoid being reviewed just has to choose a name with three, or fewer letters.

Does anyone know why it is impossible on perb to do a search for anything under four letters? I've never encountered any site other this one that can't do three-letter searches.

Try putting "" around the value you're searching. So if you're searching for AT, make it "AT". That may help.

The site likely does this to stop "Blind SQL Injections" where a hacker (or rival) could attack the site with a script that starts at A and tries everything. The result would be that the site would melt down and go offline. That's likely why there is a 30 second delay between searches. It's not to piss YOU off. It's to make sure this site is up and healthy. This is actually best practice. Good for Fred Zed.

There's also a delay between sending PM's and can't remember if there's a delay between posting posts as well. I think those are to slow down trolls who like to spam the boards. On one board recently, a prolific troll posted 400+ threads in one night. Kept their mods very busy.

Not necessarily trolls per say more like computer bots or scripts. Databases places a huge load on a server. They are millions of read and writes (aka I/O). Unless you're using a Linux and Open Source database they're very expensive whether you buy them or sign up in the Cloud.

Bots are why you get those ultra annoying "click on the links with grass" all the time. That's especially true if you're using a VPN or Tor and the site is hosted on Cloudflare.

If that were true wouldn't every site, or board be knocked offlne?

As I said, I've never encountered another site that has this restriction.
