Listening to the echo chamber that is Rebel media was my first red flag. Explosive eyebrow raising language was my second red flag. I'm a capitalist and enjoy an robust economy, but just can't stand the far right and far left media that now thrive on the internet. My dad taught me that the truth always lies in the middle. No truer words spoken.
Now onto LNG. Why is it that people don't understand that there are two parts to making money. First is the price you get for your product and second is how much it costs you to produce that product. So when that chump on Rebel media talked about Sabine Pass LNG facility in Louisiana, the reason why Sabine works is because the gas exported from the Marcellus shale is way cheaper to produce and transport than Montney gas. As for Australia, in particular Chevron's Gorgon LNG facility, it cost $50 bln to build and Chevron surely wouldn't do it again.
The entire global energy landscape has been altered by shale oil and gas. That is a critical fact that must be understood. Old relationships don't matter any more. For example, Ontario use to get all its gas from Alberta, now it imports all its gas from the Marcellus in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Cheaper gas that only need to be shipped 300km as opposed to 3000km. The Energy East pipeline being fought over is TransCanada's old Mainline that used to ship Alberta gas to Ontario which is now empty. So they need to repurpose it.
Energy is one of the most complex industries in the world. Anyone who says they have a total understanding of this industry is lying.
I do agree with the fact that Canada has certainly made developing energy resources hard. No question. But while the NDP may be anti energy in BC, didn't the NDP in Alberta fight for Keystone XL ?
Like I said, it's all very complicated.
