What are you buying when you go out?

Going out less often obviously means we have to buy more at one time (if we can).

I won't hoard, because that's just shitty behaviour.

Some things won't keep, and there's not enough space in a fridge, but I'm getting extras of certain things like canned goods, sauerkraut, salsa, oranges, melons, some fozen, etc.

Is there a strategy to shopping for essentials that works on such infrequent trips to stores?

And why is the only thing still missing, toilet paper?

I don't hoard, but I've always bought in bulk at Costco for the savings. So, many items I have enough stock at any given time for months if not a full year. The only thing I really run out of are perishables.

In Vancouver Costco and Amazon deliver. You can shop for meat, dairy and produce online at Save On. They deliver or you they shop for you and you can go by the store to pickup

Lots of delivery options from restaurants that are still offering take out.

I work from home and only leave the house to go for a walk.

I've heard those deliveries are taking as long as two weeks.

I started isolation 3 weeks ago when I caught a cold. I spent the first 10 days living off everything canned and frozen that I had. Then I went out with a face shield, Lysol wipes, and dissinfectant spray to grab more essentials. I loaded on more than usual so that I don't have to go out at all. Bought rice, dried beans, spam, corned beef, and flour, canned tomatoes, frozen veggies, and some frozen meat. I should be good until the weekend or early next week. The less we go out the better at this time.

Tend to buy meats and staples at Costco in bulk. Bread and eggs not in bulk will get from No-Frills by my house, as well as other regular use items.
Try and get take-out a few times a week to support some of the local restaurants.

My last 2 orders from Costco took 2 days. Ordered Monday afternoon received this morning, so I guess 3 days. No perishables from Costco though
As a Prime member, if you choose correctly I am still getting next day.
Save On takes a few days to fill your order then I go pick it up.

I just picked up 6 items from my UPS Store that I ordered that arrived, 4 days MAX.

2 weeks from Save-On for delivery - and going to pick it up from their parking lot was basically not even available anymore.

I can't stock up as the local grocer has limits per person on most items and rarely have stock left on the shelves as it is. And what of the deliveries? The driver is coming in contact with many people. Are you all washing the packaging your food comes in as it has been exposed to ,many people as well. And what of your surgical gloves and masks? Are you removing them in your house bringing all the germs in with you?

I'm not considered a person in any of the groups that are more at risk for COVID so I don't feel like I should be using the delivery or pickup service for groceries as the stores that offer here in WPG are typically at about a 2-week wait time. I shop at a Superstore/Loblaws that has been doing a good job enforcing the social distancing measures and make sure that I disinfect my hands before going in, then the cart and disinfect my hands again before getting back into the car. I find now that meal planning has been essential as it makes my grocery shops more efficient and I've only had to go to the store very 10-14 days.

I’ve been using either Hellofresh or Freshprep for the past year. It’s good for four meals a week. Plus I get some of their optional items for breakfast and lunch. I tried getting on Saveon’s delivery but it was 3 weeks at the time. I find it hard to plan meals a week in advance so three weeks just didn’t work for me.

So basically I go to the grocery store once a week for milk and the ever so elusive toilet paper and paper towels.

I shop about every 3 days, it isn't a big deal. I'm young and healthy, hopefully I can catch this flu bug soon, then get over it, and continue on with my life as usual. The paranoia some of you have, is far worse than if you caught covid. By the way we all, have had the covid virus in us for years, yet are still alive.

Considering the reason it spread around the world so fast, and we don''t seem to have immunity to it, how did you come to that conclusion, Einstein?

Instead of just watching fear mongering, try actually educating yourself on what it truly is.
Talk to your Doctor friends, watch real news, that sort of thing. CBC is bullshit posing as news, as are the main media most people watch, they all get the exact same news feed. It is about as honest, and objective as Trudeau is...in other words, not at all.

Ps. The stores here are not out of much, if anything, and delivery from Save On Foods takes a day or two max. If my health was already so damn bad that the Corona virus is going to kill me, I would rather be dead anyway. I sure as hell don't want to be 90, crippled up, unable to feed and bathe myself, living in some old age home. Of the people who do get it, only a very small percentage actually die, and they had other problems already. Many people get slightly sick, feel off for a few days.

why are you still spouting absolute insanely selfish arrogant BS about getting it so as to get back to normal life. COVID-19 produces a VIRAL PNEUMONIA that so far unless you are a covert research scientist HAS NO TREATMENT. good luck if you get the full force strain. it’ll lay flat even your “hercules” ASS
