It doesn’t seem that BLS is a good way for STI to pass. In the chart we have said that in theory it may be possible for syphilis and the herpes simplex virus to pass this way but that we don’t really see this in the clinic. We are unsure what the risk of HPV (Human papillomavirus) is with BLS.
Having damaged skin on the scrotum e.g. cuts, razor burn etc… would make it easier for a virus or bacteria to get in.
