I should have approached them instead of the other way around, but hindsight is 20/20. I was asked if I would host self-defense classes, safe sex classes, talks from Blue Cross regarding extended health care for SPs (inc. dental),etc.
Of course!! Also makes me think that both clients of SPs and SPs who make serious bank should assume a little responsibility to ensure that resources are available to every SP. What you do for your sister SP, especially one in trouble with nowhere to turn, you do for yourself. Literally.
We are the legally disenfranchised. Instead of having full rights to earn income and keep ourselves safe, too many of us are forced into dark hidden corners where no one can see you or hear you cry for help. We are the women of old forced to visit pre- Roe.Vs. Wade backstreet abortionists.
So women are raped & physically assaulted and instead of getting the support, help, and justice every woman deserves after such an event, she has to go lick her wounds by herself and feel shame as she is blamed by all and sundry for her lack of safety procedures, failure to acquire full name etc,etc...
Jeeze, really?? I hope you never have to know how the poor woman feels right now as it is, but she needs support, not judgment. She sure isn't getting a lot from the system, or unfortunately, a lot of her actual "peers", women in the same industry who would prefer to put their efforts into fighting amongst themselves instead of coming together and helping each other out. This has to end if we are to finally put aside the barbaric Puritanical ideals of the devolved and anti-intellectual Dark Ages and finally fully legitimize sex work!!!
