When I was in my early twenties there were two songs that I can think of, off hand, that had a profound impact on me.

Stuck in a Moment - U2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVcJttcRknE

Drive - Incubus - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zN9vd9WUiA

Plus Tracy Chapman's self-titled album:

1. Talkin' Bout a Revolution
2. Fast Car
3. Across the Lines
4. Behind the Wall
5. Baby Can I Hold You
6. Mountains O' Things
7. She's Got Her Ticket
8. Why?
9. For My Lover
10. If Not Now...
11. For You

All the songs on that album are great!

Tears In Heaven - Eric Clapton

I hope many lost loved ones will know my name if they saw me in Heaven!

Jethro Tull - Locomotive Breath

The train wont stop going --
No way to slow down.
He hears the silence howling --
Catches angels as they fall.
And the all-time winner
Has got him by the balls.

The Rodeo Song. It was my former SO's favorite song.

"Here comes Johnny with his pecker in his hand..."

I should have seen the signs.

The other song that has an enormous effect on me is Hand In My Pocket by Alanis Morissette. It was my best friend's favorite song before she died and every time I hear the last stanza I just fall apart. Every time.

"And what it all comes down to my friends
Is that everything's just fine fine fine"

46 and 2 by Tool. I have always been a big fan of Tool and this song, but when I found out the lyrics and what they meant, it quickly jumped into one of my favorite songs of all time.

My song, has, and I think, forever will be,

"What a wonderful world"

by Louis B Armstrong.

I've listened to it a MILLION times and get goosebumps everytime. it is the only song that I really feel throughout my body....there are lots of other songs that have had an impact, but nothing sticks like Wonderful World. =))

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.

Mmm...hehe...so nice. =))

I had forgotten the impact this song had on me, a profound point in my life. One of the few times my dad confided with me, it was his favorite song. It helped me to understand him and the song taught me about anguish and torment. There is no doubt my dad would have been a pooner, unfortunately he was content with us. I learned angst....his and ours. This is the ONLY version, no one could ever capture the emotion and power that Eric Burdon expresses with his voice.
