Why are guys posting they were scammed by Etransfer's claiming they had no idea the SPs had it set up to auto-deposit before they were ripped off. Ummm..your bank warns you before you proceed with the transfer, so WTF?

There's a few threads in the Victoria Island and Nanaimo sections about this.

Lol yep. You have to actually CHECK a box that says "I'm aware that [so and so] has enabled auto-deposit and so will not require a password blah blah whatever"

Exactly. And I read posts where a guy claimed he set up a password. but the funds ended up being auto-deposited. His story doesn't make any sense to me.

There is a small chance his bank screwed up. Each bank implements e-transfer pages individually, so it is possible one of them doesn't give a sufficient warning. Or a warning that is too easy to ignore.

It's the sender's fault anyway, they should have read a warning right here in the Lounge: https://perb.cc/vbulletin/showthrea...ot-autodeposit-quot-when-sending-to-strangers

You ladies may be mistaken, on my online banking and app I have it set for auto deposit, however my paychecks are now e transferred to me and I still have to answer a password for that so, and it's the only one. It can and does happen

Probably they feel ripped off because they never intended to pay the provider. They were one of those " I will give you the password when I get there" types.

Update...

I used to have to click on a box to confirm that I still agree to send to a person with auto deposit.. but my bank has very recently changed it. I just sent money to someone with auto deposit. There’s a pop up box that flashes with the warning for a couple seconds, then just a warning where the password would go. But the box I used have to click to agree to proceed with the deposit is gone.

If someone is asleep at the wheel while sending an Etransfer, not surprised given the amount of guys who don’t pay any attention to anything on an ad with the exception of pics and phone number, I could see a careless inattentive pooner not noticing the transfer he’s sending is sent to auto-deposit.

I personally would never set my account to auto deposit, some try sending me deposits or sometimes even the entire session fee before I’ve actually agreed to take on the session, or before we’ve agreed on a set date and time. Some even try sending after I’ve turned down the session thinking I’ll agree because of the money.
