Judging from the frustration from the farmers, I wouldn't be surprised if the farm who has it gets burnt down or something.

Ban all animal profucts in animal feed.

Test every animal sent to slaughter.

Fix the problem.
Amen.
I heard somewhere that if we were to test every cow that the test, at that volume, would be $30 per cow or less.

Children hope problems fix themselves.
Children hope that hiding a problem will make it go away.

Adults take action to fix a problem.
Will we ever see an adult in chage of Alberta?

Grendleaxe, you are starting to scare me. I look forward to a thread where we can disagree. It is my understanding this latest incident will not stop the lifting of import restriction scheduled for March. I was never sure it was a health issue in the first place. I believe the whole thing was political.
For years it is known how Mad Cow is transmitted, through feed containing parts from a diseased animal. Duh…stop that practice, stop the spread of the disease…

Actually, USA does have mad cow disease, but their farmers simply refer to it as "stumbling disease" and "shoot, shovel and shut up". As regulation of carcass disposal becomes more stringent, more and more cases will show up. The US is way behind as far as regulation of their food industry is concerned. The real reason they claim not to have any mad cows is becasue they don't look to hard for it.

BSA, like Scrapies in sheep, can develop spontaneously but very rarely, however it can be passed on in feed when ground up animals are used to boost protein in feed. Canada has to outlaw any animal parts being used in feed period. We still allow it for chicken feed. and yes, feed does get mixed up on farms, or in trucks.

Some reporter could make a career blowing the lid off this process in the US, providing he lives long enough for the story to air, and his network/paper has the jounalistic balls to run the story.
