Sexual Assault on Sex Workers

There was some recent publicity on the Island about a Port Alberni man convicted of sexual assault on several sex workers. I am surprised that the topic was missed on here. He has been sentenced to six years (if I recall correctly). The affected women are to be commended for reporting the crimes to police. I think that sometimes women working in the sex industry are reluctant to go to police with such problems. Kudos to the women for showing strength.

Usually cops don’t believe us or care and it’s traumatic and scary as hell to report. I’m glad this guy is getting a fraction of what he deserves though
