A Russian teenager who sold her virginity through an online auction site has been given the green light by police to seal the deal.
The 18-year-old woman, identified only as Shatuniha, posted an ad advertising her virginity on the Russian auction site 24au.ru just one day before a winning bid was announced, reports The Siberian Times.
"I am in urgent need of money, so I am selling the most precious thing I possess," she wrote in the ad. "I am ready to meet up soon, even as soon as tomorrow, and I am ready to have my virginity verified."
In the ad, Shantuniha describes herself as "new, not used" and offers to bring a document confirming her virginity to the hotel where the "transaction" is to take place.
The auction was posted Oct. 30 with a 800,000 ruble price tag, which translates to about $25,800 CDN.
The next day, winning bidder Evgeniy Volnov agreed to pay her 900,000 rubles ($29,000 CDN) -- approximately $3,000 above the asking price.
Police say that no laws have been broken and that her actions do not classify as prostitution.

"[We have] no right to give a moral assessment of the girl's actions," officials say.
Shatuniha reportedly tried to auction her virginity through a different auction site when she was 17, though it's uncertain whether she actually did.
This isn't the first time a woman has tried to auction her virginity online.
Last year, a Brazilian woman sold her virginity online to a Japanese man who was supposed to pay her $780,000. This summer she told media that she never met the man, and never saw a penny.
