Has anybody else noticed the sudden influx of returning (from retirement) and visiting providers?

It's kinda interesting considering how some have bid farewell more than once. I guess no one ever really leaves this industry.

As for the visiting providers, Toronto and Alberta? Really? Working holidays or economic opportunities?

Lack thereof in Alberta I bet. Mass exodus leaving.
I know it's bad in Alberta but I wonder why teh influx from Toronto. Admitely our economy is probably slightly stronger but it seems like they're coming in twos and threes...

Well to begin with, though she never announced it officially, Billionaress is advertising again. Possibly a long hiatus....
Veronica from the BBC is another (if anyone remember it). Redhead Adrianna and she had a retirement announcement a while ago.
And at least another 3 off the top of my head....

There was an article a couple of days ago on the difficulty of working after a woman has been an SP. One example was a woman who's fellow employee found out, another example was a woman fired by her employer when someone informed them.

We've seen it on Perb with the person who attended the same high school "outing" a new SP when he recognized her from her ad.

Unless the woman has always had a plan on how she's going to exit sex work, it's very difficult for an SP to exit into anything other than poverty. It shouldn't surprise anyone that many choose to return to being an SP. In fact, many that return now have a better plan. They don't waste the money they earn the way they did in the past.

There are the women that exit successfully. I know of one who was an SP while she earned her doctorate of medicine. She was a foreign student and returned home with no one knowing how she had funded her education.

I know another who grew up in the lower mainland, was a highly successful SP while she got her degree(s) and then retired to a new life and job far away from here. A little cosmetic surgery to "fix" things that no man would consider a problem and nobody seeing her now would recognize her if they happened upon her where she is now. That was her plan and she carried it out.

Didn't know about Billionaress but I now see her ad. Adriana....I saw her and though she was cool :thumb:. On Eros, I see Katrina Ko has returned also. I know of the now defunked BBC, but, not aware who Veronica is . If it's Very Veronica you are talking about.....she's always been on Eros. Use to be here on Perb.

Still hoping JessikaXXX and Kristy of N Van would return!

I'd add Sandi Laine in too :thumb: Kristy of N Van, I saw several times. She was fantastic :thumb:.

Jessikaxxx....saw her as well but, I read somewhere that body wise, she let herself go. There was a photo of her posted that did not look good at all :( I'm severely hoping it was a very bad photo taken because.....if any of you recall early Jessikaxxx photos.....she was very very attractive!!

A different Veronica that used to work at the BBC, but now works as Cherry. The returning girls seem to have a substainal price point, I'm guess returning to the industry they want to keep the clientele limited.

A plan is definitely necessary, but even with the plan it's hard. Even without getting outted.

I mean I make about $30/hr, I can't imagine coming back to that after making $300/hr. I would venture there can be mental lock as well after working in the industry for an extended period of time as well about not being able to do anything else. It's the same with any industry, the further specialized you are, the less likely you will be willing to change the scope of your work. Anyone that works to pay off a few extreme bills I can completely understand. Anyone who works to pay for tuition, mortgages, or any other sort of outstanding debt, the chances of switching to another line of work after a couple of years greatly diminishes.

Kudos for your friends. I hope they manage to on course with their careers.

Thank you sdw for your link to the globe article. It is too bad that happens but if an SP stays in the area she worked in there is a very high risk of being caught. This world is just too small. Vacating. To another community is almost a must. One gal I know whom is back east and I think getting her life in order wants to return to her old work community
Which might be a careers stopper! Hope it doesn't happen.

Jessikaxxx I haven't seen a while now, nor Kristy. I could have sworn I saw Sandi on backpage or leo a autumn last year but it was under a different name.

its not 300/hr for an 8 hour work day like your 30/hr...sometimes its 300 (or a range of $100 to $300/400 etc) just 1 time in one day, once a week...or maybe multiple times a day, its not constant like a normal job. I hope pooners understand this concept and don't think SP's are actually pulling in their "hour" rate for up to 8 hours or something, and I find that they do which is ridiculous. And also consider that for that 200-300 dollars, there is probably many more hours invested into getting that cash, possibly hours, days or weeks until the appointment & correspondence, half hour to an hour getting ready and maybe more to clean, then clean up after, so in reality its probably a lot more hours put it in to pull in that 200-300 bucks! That's why you guys will find service levels probably won't be great with every single SP out there, sadly the money just isn't worth it for a lot of girls to put in their entire soul and energy into making the client happy, when they need to spread out that energy to multiple clients in order to actually benefit in a lucrative way.

Both of the ladies I mentioned were doing a full course load at UBC, they saw one client a day if aunt flo wasn't visiting or they had exams. It's only the "handled" SPs that are scheduled a client every 45 minutes. Even the high volume independents don't see clients every day. As one described it to me, "it's either nothing or a crowd" she wouldn't get a call for days, then 1 or 2 guys would want to see her at the same time.

Absolutely. It's like any contract job. It can steady, it can be feast, or it can be famine. It's up to the individual contractor to determine their budget and manage their money given the expectations and projections of business. I never said that the expectation was 8 hours a day. But at the same time my contract rate is $50/hr which is still a substainal drop from $300/hr and though the work is quite different, the discussion is the transition from one career to the next. And regardless of career paths transitioning from $300/hr to $50/hr has got to be difficult.

Feast or famine. The life of a contractor is not one I miss. Mind you I probably wasn't a very good one. The constant guage of self worth by the amount of work I would be able to find or receive. The constant need to sell and sell so I would have a gig lined up after the one I was on finished, and at no where near the 100/hr range too. The only thing I miss about that life is being able to wake up late if I didn't have a call with a client.

My favourite sp is thinking of going back to at least part time civie work. First problem she thought of, what to put on a resume to explain what she has been doing for the last 8 years. HR interviewers take recent employment as very significant.
