Why? Saw an new article on the concern of parents. The news showed clip of a school room with distancing desks, and arrows on the floor. I thought they finally militarized the school system. Kids following in line 6 feet apart.
Parents raised concern over kids who have medical problems like asthma, wondering if all the kids will be wearing masks. I just can't see it, a teacher with 20 kids in her class trying to controll them, make them wear masks etc. Not contacting each other when playing on the playground.
I can see the school classroom as the new epicenter for the spread of covid-19, just because kids being kids.
Then all these doctors, and school boards and health officials saying it will be safe for the kids and their families. I can see that biting them in the ass big time. Cause sure as shit, it will happen.
But if it does happen, no blame will be attached to these experts, all because we are a forgiving society.
Another thing about schools is the heating and air conditioning of the school rooms. Hepa filters have to be installed on forced air systems. Why, you should be looking at the spread of Covid-19 in the old folks homes (retirement), a big part of the problem is the heating conduits which supply air to the rooms. Lack of maintence on the heating systems (eg. replacing air filter, they should have hepa filters and some systems can't handle the hepa (air flow)). Also in the ventillation ducts hold alot of dust, which should be cleaned out on a public/private residence such as a retirement home (again lack of maintenance in order to maintain a profit). Lack of cleaning surfaces in the old folk homes where the people are not the most active of people, how will that be in the classrooms with young active kids? Look at what happened on the cruise ships, people became infected, even while confined to their rooms. The only way to spread Covid was through the ventillation system (AC system/heating).

So is part 2 of the pandemic wave in the school rooms? the new epi-center of the outbreaks of covid? I guess we will see in October.

Well still, the crack will open up, the virus will find its way in.
Like it did in old folks homes. The squeezing the dollar at the old folks home is the real culprit. Profit. What you'll see is from the past 30 years of downsizing; the shifting of priorities away from cleaning/care to lower paid individuals to clean/help out. Inadequate training for care persons, and the maximizing the profit.
One big thing at old folks homes is the issue of theft. Clothing, money, personal things, it seem every thing has to be bolted down.

Back to round 2. I hope the hospitals are prepared for a whopper of a time, and have plans for high numbers and back up personnel for the big numbers.
Victoria is known as the newly wed/nearly dead city.... Its gonna get fun over here......

Playing helps stimulate cognitive development in children. This is especially important when it comes to roughhousing amongst boys. It promotes neuron growth and connections in the brain.

Proper brain development in an entire generation of children is at risk with these measures.

And that's the reason men play with women's breast.... to develop their cognitive skills..... I always thought that women's breasts were hypnotic.... Now I find they are mentally stimulating..... Thanks Ms Hunter.... :D

Week three, and with over 2000 schools in BC and something like 80% of students returning to the classroom, no confirmed cases of in school spread so far and only about 30 schools with confirmed exposures ... *Yawn* ... you were sold the politicized message of fear from the BCTF and hysterical parents while ignoring the repeated assurances of the Public Health experts like Dr. Bonnie Henry.

No, my knowledge is that kids are breeding grounds for flus and colds (snot nose buggers). Put them in school and they will pass it around and take it home.
Also in most place BC there is not much of an infection rate and most areas are free from it.
The transition from shut down to people going out, is not a controled transition. Think of a mountain that has lots of slopes of varying steepness. At any time the transition rate can hit a very steep slope that can cause an alvanche... A controlled transition would be like driving down a mountain road. Smooth and lots of gentle curves to get you to the bottom.
Schools are like dropping off the side of the mountain and you don't know what type of slope you are on.
So that was backin July.
Now face mask are mandatory, and social distancing. It helps. But kids will always be the snot nose buggers....

Again, you are presuming your ramblings over carefully constructed and modelled public health policies designed by experts.

Sorry forgot to point out my "ramblings" were based on the july comment, and kids being "snot nose buggers" is always gonna be true. And kids in the presence of other kids will pass shit along, and taking it home... Just the same old, same old. So in July I was saying "why open schools" when they know the rate of infection will just go up.

Keeping the infection rate "flat" or down is to prevent hospitals from overwhelming numbers (so hospitals cope and you don't burn out your public care workers).

Its late September and schools are open, I'm just expecting the infection rate to increase because of the schools openings.

The problem is that everybody will eventually get the virus.

As for " carefully constructed and modelled public health policies designed by experts. " , well these experts aren't that great, it took them 6 months or so to say to wear face masks. How prepared were they? To tell anybody the truth, the first 3 months were a "shit-show" tells me how well prepared these experts were. When shit came to shove, they knew not what to do. Look how long it took to shut down in Canada. I think it was in March, so the stuff happened in China in January that at least 2 months slow....

Countries like the US were sending planes to bring their Citizens home. They isolated them, but what would happen if someone broke the isolation? In a contagion event, its the wrong thing to do.

Lessons Learned?
