Prostitution economics, a scientific study

A University of Chicago study published a scientific paper on street level prostitution (in Chicago), with references to prostitutes in Mexico and India in contrast.

SOME of the eye-popping reading can be found on pages 15, 20 and 21. I didn't read the whole thing very carefully, but I'm sure there's a lot more in that paper that I would find unnerving.

I wonder how closely their study models what happens in Vancouver? I am guessing there are some scary parallels.

If you're interested, this study is summarized/analysed in Chapter 1 of Superfreakonomics. Levitt, the co-author of this paper, is also a co-author or Superfreakonomics.

Well sure, it is a draft. Nevertheless I don't think the research findings are going to change, and they are absolutely shocking.

uhm, I'm not saying I am familiar with this material by any stretch.. but .. this is from 2007 and is "extremely preliminary and incomplete" according to the cover page

could be worth taking a look for the final report that might have come out in the last five years.

I would think that the vast majority of mainstream prostitution is not "Street-Level" anymore. This report is not really relavant to the industry as it exists today.
