Brothers,

I often wonder what people on this forum do to afford this hobby as we all know how expensive it is! Without divulging anything too personal, I wonder what types of jobs people on this forum have? Do you come from independently wealthy families with inherited wealth? Foreign nationals? High income corporate executives? Janitors (there are some among us!).

If you feel more comfortable discussing what percentage of your pre-tax income you spend on this, that would also be useful information (to hel me understand the extent of my disease lol). Look at this as a kind of opportunity for financial planning lol. I, for one, spend roughly 15% of my pre-tax earnings on this hobby (which I feel is too much, so I am trying to cut back). I often marvel at how unproductive and inefficient this city feels compared to other places I've lived, so wonder how people here have "normal" jobs yet afford this expensive hobby without bankrupting themselves!

Thanks in advance for your contributions.

Depends on how much you spend on other things I guess. 15% discretionary spending is not the end of the world. Using the 50-30-20 rule (post-tax) we can convert it to pre-tax to get 30-35-21-14 (tax, needs, wants, savings) assuming 30% tax.

With this rule you can make just 75K (likely paying less than 30% tax actually) and spend $300 a week for 52 weeks, and still be ok. If you only spend your fun money on this hobby then $300 a week would take you a long way. Of course this is an extreme example assuming no vacations, eating out, drinks, etc. Your needs part won't even afford you a car or transit.

Im a trades guy in a union job that pays above market value. Alongside it, I charge 90/hr for side gig jobs i receive through word of mouth.

I could be investing it and have it contribute to an early retirement, but i much rather enjoy this hobby now while im young and healthy

Still lost in the '60s
I'm an old age pensioner.
My frugal habits allow me to save up enough to treat myself to the occasional dalliance.
Rarely do I spend more than $120 for a visit with a local sporting lady.

My sources of income are from my construction job (exterior siding), making and selling barbecue sauce, and a little bit from streaming on Twitch for fun.

My folks always taught me to never tell folks what you make. I've been a good kit so have followed their teachings.

Quit owning a vehicle since 1974. On top of our hobby, ballpark estimate 20 SPs plus 120 lapdances, I've toured 42 weeks in Europe in 7 visits. 12 weeks bussing in Canada and another 6 weeks hitchhiking. Without touching a real estate inheritance.
