I love the part about the cops patting themselves on the back claiming they were already looking out for theses women before the law changed

Hey, the Boys in Blue have always had a soft spot for the working girls. I mean who else can they shake down for free sex anytime they want with the threat of incarceration hanging over their head.

There was a top provider in Winnipeg many years ago. She was having some problems with a stalker. When the cops on her case found out she was an SP the one cop came back to see her on his own the next day and basically told her that if she wanted him to put any effort into her situation she needed to "be nice to him." She told me they did get to the bottom of the problem but the guy continued to think she "owed him", pretty well up to the time she moved away. Sometimes she was having sex with the guy 3 or 4 times a week for free. I told her she should report it but she didn't need the hassle it would cause her and she already had designs on leaving town.

Many years ago, before mainstream Internet, I met a lady of the night and she said cops were some of their biggest customers.

5 years for purchasing sexual services on a first offence. Whoa . . . that is a steep price to pay for a hobby. Guess it's time to retire until laws get changed.

Not Always Sure...
Really now. It's not the independent inside ladies they're going after but the street level ones. What's visible can often be a target.
I agree with the latter parts of your post.
This publicized sting was against street level johns, but the best guide to future behaviour would be past behaviour, and this is Winnipeg, not Vancouver.

You should be aware that the WPS have in the past, prior to bill C-36, indeed paid attention to both street level and "independent inside ladies". They do not have the same leadership nor philosophy as the Vancouver P.D.
Enforcement in the past was sporadic and unpredictable. There's no reason to expect this will change.

Its just a matter of time til someone looks at the money made off fines and cars seized and wonders "how can we expand this into other areas of prostitution"?

I don't think there is much they could do to the SPs under the new laws. Perhaps they could be hit with bylaw infractions. Going after the clients would prove difficult in that it would require the SP to confirm that money was exchanged for sex. It's certainly not impossible, but it is difficult. I suspect the police will see that and target something that requires less effort for a win.
The places that should be worried are brothels like Diamonds and Broadways. The cops know where to find them and there is somebody to easily charge (the owners). Agencies are also in that boat, and once they start looking at phone records......

Sure like the city does with school zones from 730 to 530pm. And construction zones where nobody is working, or where no construction is going on.
I pass through 3 School Zones on my way to work.
Yesterday I told someone that I can guarantee that because it is Sept. 1, even though the kiddies don't go back until next week, that there will be Speed Enforcement Vehicles in the school zones today.
And this morning there were vehicles parked in 2 of the 3 zones.
But it's not a tax grab. :pound:

Politicians and construction guys who stole millions get golden pensions. Try getting your rocks off and they try to take your car.
