Went out with some friends to a pub and to watch the first Canucks game.
Was a bit pumped to see the new team and the opener.
Got good seats with awesome spinner waitress's ......
Nice glass of wine and dinner , and then the PIGS took over the game ,
nhl has to get rid of the 2 ref system , the PIGS totally took over and threw the game.
everyone has a elbow , and a player has his head down and skates into a elbow which is in control and down and the player gets a elbowing penalty at a crucial time...WTF ,
i,m on my second glass of wine and am thinking about the new draconian drinking laws introduced last week. I believe we need a rebellion cause its now gone tooooo far the other way , Waht the fuk is this ? A muslim nation?
The the PIGS come into the pub and do a intimidating walk around , with black tuks and bullet proof vests and guns poised at the ready , slowly looking at everyone , then the booing started , fuk off fuk off fuk off...
Too many PIGS , time to cull them.
Todays PIG , tomorrows bacon!!!!
I did stop at 2 drinks and manager says sales are down 35%.
He was pissed at the intimidating walk threw , and this is a upscale brew house.

Suck it up, they're doing their job. I'm sure you would be feeling differently if you ever required police assistance.

Personally I don't like the term Pig's and I find that to be entirely disrespectfull. Walking through a bar is not their job though, nor is walking through a restaurant while people are eating dinner. As a business owner I would be pretty upset.

They could have been called in for some reason or another, you never know.

If you haven't done anything wrong, you have no reason to feeling intimidated :)

That makes no sense at all, you obviously haven't dealt with the police very much. They can really rune your day with the slightest provocation. Rumor has it, they have even killed 100% innocent people before. Not saying we should get rid of them all, but when you consider the pay scale and the reasons most young men join, you have to be damn careful. Before I get judged for generalizing, I know good cops. But even they admit shit goes wrong in the heat of the moment.
While PG is off base....that was one bad arguement:p

I think you're overreacting just a liiiittle bit, they walked through a bar you were in. It's not like they cuffed you and threw you to the ground for no reason. If a police presence is enough to "rune" your day, that's a bit sensitive, dontcha think?

Ask the owners of the establishment their thoughts.

Ok, I am all ears for your side of the argument.

Two armed policemen walk through a crowded bar. No one is injured or arrested, they are mainly there to check things out.

Explain to me what the harm in this is. Despite the fact that some patrons may be intimidated for their own personal reasons or bias against the police.

It is called a LPC - licensed premise check. It is part of the terms and conditions that bars and restaurants must agree to in order to receive a license to serve alcohol. If you want to read the whole document it is easily found on the web. So while it is not the primary focus of police it is a part of their job. Typically LPC's are a reactive thing in response to complaints.

Keep in mind that the job of the police is to enforce the law as it is written (supposedly). If you don't like the laws you need to blame the politicians as they are the ones that create and pass them.

First off they are there hurting an owners business, they are not asked there and they are doing it all over town. As a tax payer I would actually like to see them out doing some good rather than walking around looking at waitresses. It's nothing to do with intimidation. People will be staying home instead of going out to establishments. If they want to set up road blocks etc, have atter but there is no need to be wasting time in establishments IMO.

I think the conversation is making some huge jumps as far as assumptions are made.

The police walking through a bar have reduced his business 35%? Really? If an owner is claiming that he's really just looking to find someone to blame for his business taking a nose dive. I have no problem with the cops doing a walk through of a bar, you don't see it often and the ones you do see them go through have usually had problems before (i.e. it's owned by the HA or there have been some other form of underhanded dealings) same goes for nightclubs.

Second, who here really feels intimidated when they see a cop walk through a bar and leave? Unless you're worried about something you've done, there's no reason to be intimidated or worried! I've been in nightclubs where 4 cops have walked through and it has ZERO impact on the mood or the setting (though you will see a few known dealers leave in a hurry).

Just my two cents....

OK. By your logic, you're fine with a tap on your home and cell phone, monitoring your internet, and a plainclothes officer following you around all the time? You've got nothing to hide, right?

how the hell is this a valid comparison- police walking through a public place compared to what you are suggesting. that goes beyond stupid!!

A friend of mine, he always says he hates Pigs, and when cops are around, he says he smells bacon...than, when someone broke into his car...take a guess who he reported it to. We bitch and moan, but when we have trouble, it's always "Someone call the cops"

Probably the best point to make. We hear people bitch about the police but who do they run to or expect to help them when something goes wrong?

Friend sounds like ignorant dick. And yes, LE certainly has it's place. Only reason to call police if your car is broken into is because it is required for your insurance. Also helps them keep accurate stats of crime. They don't do anything, not enough resources. They don't even check for prints unless related to a more serious crime. Shit, report your call stolen and all they do is let you know if/when it found abandoned. This isn't a criticism, just a fact.

What isl said. You want to claim, you gotta call them, it's not like he had to buy them doughnuts. Had it happen to me, couple of teens broke a window on my vehicle. I caught them, introduced them to my friend Louisville and then called the cops. Didn't buy them coffee or doughnuts either even though they were a couple of cuties.

My fav watering hole had a problem when a bunch of gangsters started hanging out there and the bouncers were too scared to keep them out. Owner called the gang unit and they do a walkthrough all the time now no more shithead gangsters and everyone is glad the cops walk through I don't know whats intimidating about them unless you're a piece of shit criminal

I see cops do walkthrough at bars all the time but they don't intimidate, they even chat up the patrons. Now if they're coming into a particular place with bulletproof vests and guns poised then there's a good reason for it - the bar has a history of trouble (being upscale doesn't mean it is free of gangstas), or because they are looking for someone in particular.
