NEW YORK (Reuters) -- U.S. President George W. Bush's bold, uncompromising leadership and his clear-cut election victory made him Time magazine's Person of the Year for 2004, its managing editor said Sunday.

More then 100,000 Iraqi dead. 62 killed just today.

Is this what it takes to be the Person of Year.

Time's Person of the Year is often misunderstood.

It is a judgement that is morally neutral.

They are naming the person that was, in their opinion, the most "newsworthy" or generated the most news throughout the year.

Post-911, they debated making Osama the person of the year.... For a variety of reasons they chose not to, although by their criteria, he would have been a very strong candidate.

Adolf Hitler - 1938

Josef Stalin - 1939 & 1942

Richard Nixon - 1971

Ayatullah Khomeini - 1979

If Time had any guts, it would have gone with Osama Bin Laden in 2001 and stressed that it was "Newsmaker of the Year" and not "Man of the Year"

Time Magazine's "Person of the Year" is not a accolade. It's recognition for the person that generated the most news (good or bad) in a given time interval.

TIme Magazine's person of 20th century was Adolph Hitler

Time Magazine "Person of the Year" does not mean that much. Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin were both "Men of the Year" before World War II. It is an award given to the most "talked about" person in the news.

Well even if you go by "newsmaker" of the year as opposed to "person" of the year I would still vote for Paris Hilton ahead of Bush.
Paris Hilton's bush gets my vote too ...
