My old Telus Pay n Talk phone is on its last legs and $25 top-ups charge out at 33 cents per minute. There must be a better deal out there.

What are others using for their "poon phones", provider? rates?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

I have a t moble they are the best in North America. I pay .10 and pay as I go. My european phone kills me when I am in North America. If only they had a plan for leaving it on the plane. I had a San Francisco phone then I got one in Vancouver Bell what a nightmare that was. I am glad I lost that one. Now back at t Moble got it in New York. They are the easiest and the cheapest and the best service.

Not sure if that helps. If I was you I would skip down to Bellingham and pick one up there at a T moble store it is fast not like Bell who took hours to set it up.

Thanks for the input gang. I'm on the Island so I'm not sure some of those brands are even available here, but even the 7-11 service is better than the 33 cents Telus charges.

If you're on the island your best bet is Chatr from Rogers. They have an unlimited plan for $25 and they use the rogers network, so coverage should be pretty good.

My work phone is a Chatr phone, it's 35/month unlimited any time minutes within their 'zones', unlimited text plus voice mail and caller ID and call waiting. Basically it's on a digital network so the reception isn't the best and it won't work outside the city limits (mine worked in Winnipeg though because that's one of their zones)

It's a really great plan if you're just looking for a pooning phone. No contract and I think no ID even! Mine is registered under my working name and the address on the plan is the address of the London Drugs where I purchased it. Totally anonymous, if that's your concern. You buy minutes at drug stores or grocery stores, super easy.

i've long been a fan of 7-11's speak out phones, but rogers has gone head to head with them with their Chatr phones. Chatr is a much better deal if you plan to use it a lot. having said that, during lean times $35 has lasted me 6 months on speak out

My work phone is Wind Mobility this is perfect if you are someone that doesn't leave the city lol! And my personal phone is Koodo and I have never had a problem with either of them.

I have the grandfathered $40 unlimited everything with Mobilicity, works great (for those who don't go out of their zones much) and can talk, text, surf, use bb data for as much as I want.
All Mobilicity's plans are on 50% off on a regular basis, including a week ago when I last looked. You can get an unlimited calling plan for pooning for $12.50!

All the newer providers offer much the same deal.... Wind, Mobilicity, Koodoo, Chatr.
Koodoo is owned by Telus... cannot stand Telus.

Chatr is owned by Fido (in turn owned by Rogers), so you get their network quality.
Like others, registration is any who you want to be.
Anonymous top-ups at all London Drugs, Wireless Wave and other locations make it easy, if you prefer not to use auto-charge credit card.

Completely irrelevant to the topic is Missy Mariposa's avatar pic ... too hot! makes me sweat everytime I look at it.
