 So I'm parked at Superstore this afternoon, just ready to leave after getting my stuff, when a filthy old grand prix pulls in beside me, at an angle of course, not straight. Next thing, three people pile out, and then I feel a bump as one of their doors clunks into my car.

So I get out as they're walking away, and make it clear I'm examining my door. I yell at one of them to watch their door next time. She looks back, blank, brainless look on her face. No question, no apology, just nothing.

I look at their car. Covered in salt and dirt, junk all over the interior, right side mirror is missing, one corner is severely dented, small dents all over, etc. Why is it always someone in a shitbox who does this? Hell, I drove an old shitbox when I was younger, but I always respected the other guys' car.

This kind of thing absolutely drives me nuts. I've always maintained my cars meticulously, (with the exception of the shitbox)and have been accused of being fanatical. I have an '07 CRV which gets hand waxed and polished a few times a year. I notice every little scratch. OK, so I'm a little anal...no doubt there. I dunno, I just almost lose it with people like this... Just venting a little.

Mistake one....if you have a nice/expensive car that you care about.
Dont take it to superstore.

You need a second car, they are termed "grocery getters" oddly enough

I have the same problem, I notice every little scratch. The best thing I find that works is park as far away as possible from the stores. You may have to walk a little further but i'd rather that then come back and find a dent in my truck.

Same here... I notice every little ding/scratch on my car. Like SidGuy, I don't mind the extra walk to not have to worry about coming back to a dent.

What's even better than the "angle" parkers are the ones that take up at least two spots because they think their car's the shit... that really gets me going...

My greatest dislike are for those fuckwits who park so close to my car door that I can't get into it, or they park at an angle such that I am unable to back out. Anytime this happens, I give them a phlegmmy spit on the windshield.

Yeah its just a complete lack of respect. I used to keep a bat in my car and if anyone opened their door into mine, their sideview mirror got some attention;)

I would agree on this one. My ex hates superstore. It's almost as bad as parking at Walmart.

Like Eminen said, " I just don't give a f*ck" if they hit your car door.

Actually now that I think about it, I have been dinged. I was pretty fanatical for the first few months of getting my car, now I could care less. =\ It's part of living in eTown. :(

My 'favorite' which sent me to the Queen to apply for a Heavy Weapons License...

The parking lot is 3/4 empty.
You park your nice car away from everyone.
Some moron parks right next to you.

And that moron is either an Oscar winning actor-ess, or really, truly is totally clueless when you confront him/her about what he/she just did, apparently deliberately.
This really happened.

If they door-ding your car, you have a right to an insurance claim.

Maybe he/she thinks the lot is going to get packed eventually and parking beside a nice car usually means you won't get door dinged....:p

I am very anal about my parking, even if it means walking far I will always try to park where no other cars are around or next to a wall etc so that only one car can possibly be next to me, or pay on the street where parallel parking USUALLY means your car won't get hit...

Nothing but idiots & dirtbags. I've gotten to a point where I would just key their car but not enough where it's worthwhile to go to ICBC. There's no respect for other peoples property and some of these cars should not even be on the road. I guess no worst then the nicer cars doing the same thing. Reguardless, my ultimate goal is to grap some dog shit & slap it underneath the door handle so when he/she opens their door, shit happens. Maybe I'll be parked somewhere watching it go down.:p

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that usually I do park FAR away from everyone else....BUT... yesterday I was taking my mom around to do her shopping, as she is nervous driving around town when the streets are this icy. She always likes to park as close as possible to the store...so I had no choice.

I did give their shitbox a good punch afterwards, which felt kinda good. I felt like keying in big letters "Don't hit other people's doors". They probably wouldn't have even noticed it until the spring rain washed off some of the dirt. Assuming of course, that anyone in that family is even literate...

it is a hassle, but, if the ding is deep enough that its bothering you, you can go to ICBC with it. i've done so when someone was in a rush and swung their door open quickly hitting mine leaving a sizable dent. got their plates, and took some photos, called it in to ICBC and got my door fixed. i can't stand door dings!

OR...the logic is if u were to park beside a nice car, he/she won't ding you since they would care too much about their car to do so.
