Niki Lauda who's career as a Formula 1 driver is on the upswing, is driven by one of his team mates to a party some distance from where they ares staying. By the time they arrive at the the party Niki has had a falling out with his team mate and decides to go directly back. He hitches a ride with a young woman also leaving the party who does not follow Formula 1 and does not even know of his existence, let alone how famous Niki already is in the Formula 1 racing world. She will eventually become his wife.

I love Daniel Bruhl as Nicki in this fantastic movie! It made a renewed F1 fan out of me. I like the scene where James Hunt kicks the crap out of the obnoxious jounalist over his attempt to humiliate Niki.

Thanks man. It's on my "To Watch" list. Ms Lara comes across as statuesque.

Another underrated foreign movie would be Savior, about the war in Bosnia. I guess it's not technically a foreign movie since it was co-produced by Oliver Stone and stars Dennis Quaid, but it was filmed in Montenegro and Montreal and seems more like a foreign movie than a Hollywood movie. It's hard hitting and not for the faint of heart.
