Has anyone here ever visited one of the social assistance housing buildings in Olympic Village in Vancouver?

I ask because I set up an appointment with an sp, and after being told I would have my ID checked and need to sign in a guest book to enter her building I looked up the address and saw that it's one of the social housing units there.

Is this kind of ID check a standard thing for social housing units like that, does anyone know?

Some supportive housing has it, some doesn't. It is common though. Mostly just to keep the residents safe.
Okay, thank you. How in depth do they check the ID though, is it just to see that you have it on you in case something happens, or do they copy down your information? If it's the latter I'd be pretty uncomfortable.

Thanks for the info Angela. :) I decided not to go, it was just outside of my comfort zone, but your information was greatly appreciated.

Is that even allowed? Especially with the new laws, I would stay far away from anything like that...just screams red flags everywhere, and desperation. The last resort is doing outcalls if you seriously can't get a place to work from, or even afford a hotel. I also don't like the idea of SP's using a govt issued home to collect tax free money through sex work (unless they are on income assistance already and are using the welfare check to rent out their own place). But if she is doing that I'm sure she probably isn't making that much $ anyway because many guys would get freaked out like OP, and probably just supplementing her monthly income modestly anyway. I know I'm being judgemental but what-ever  JMO

Well, I would agree with part of what you are saying if Welfare actually gave enough to pay rent, food and utilities. However, it doesn't. While I would never see her - same reason the OP won't see her - I think she's safer working at home than on a street corner, car date or outcall. In fact, the signing in and out probably improves her safety while dropping her potential income.

yeah I agree its true it keeps her much more safe, probably safer than most escorts! Maybe she is afraid and wants that certain type of clientle she can trust. And yeah well I meant the welfare can cover half the rent! lol

Totally not being judgmental. I'm all about social programs for those in need, but why on earth would an an SP need government assistance?!?

Who says she does ? Maybe it just happens to work out that way for her based on how she does her income tax.................

Or not. The OP is right, it's pretty creepy to show ID at a social housing to see an SP. There's plenty of jobs out there, just have to be willing to actually work and put in an honest days work in. Obviously working at Tim's may not be someones first choice, but it's a job and teaches you valuable skills.

Street drugs. Lots of it. Addiction. And supporting their boyfriend or pimp.

Exactly. Many of whom struggle with complex trauma and attachment. Hence the drugs and parasitic boyfriends. Not stating this as judgment but rather empathy for understanding reasons for what they do. Used to work in social services in downtown eastside.

yup :clap2: and mental health issues...
