I'm looking for some fun in Vancouver next month or so. I'm interested in mostly outcalls to my hotel. Can you get arrested for arranging dates with an Escort for companionship in your hotel room ? I have searched the forum and googled for laws regarding this. Got confusing results. Hopefully guys and gals on Perb can clarify this for me.

Just looking for a great time in 'couver.

No you won't get arrested. It's legal as long as it's an outcall. And you're pretty safe going to an incall with a reputable independent girl, although her incall may be considered a "common bawdy house," the police don't set up that kind of sting, its a waste of their time.

and as long as you don't do it in public, like don't make a date in public, in a bar for example, or even on the street. There are lots of Sps and reviews here, just pick a good one, make your date before you arrive, and go for it.

Or upon arrival walk up to the first uniformed officer you see and say excuse me I'd like to purchase sex from some very pretty ladies.

When they say What? because all our police are hard of hearing. Just wink and say .. you know "Bow chicka bow wow" while making gyrating and thrusting hip gestures.

Then say.. If you would be so kind, can you point some of them out to me , and where the best place to go would be.

Once they put their donuts and coffee down they'll point you in the right direction.

Since we're Canadians we all like to help a bloke from another country out...Always.

Oh Welcome to Canada eh!.. (Sarcasm be thy friend...) have fun. but not too much fun eh.

A generic eastern European accent will also add credibility to your requests.

The relevant sections of the Criminal Code

So to be totally clear of violating the criminal code:
- Stay out of bawdy houses (incalls)
- Don't negotiate the deal in a public place (talking on the phone from a private place is not a public transaction)
- Stay away from underaged SPs (Duh!!)
- Don't try to hire people for sex who are not already SPs

Nothing in there about not phoning an adult SP up & having the SP come over to your hotel.
This has been struck down by the Ontario Supreme Court. The government is appealing, but for now, if gangs, drugs, underage, human trafficking etc.. are not involved, the likelihood of being charged is slim at best. It is my opinion

I don't think they would be able to set up a sting like that here, because to be found in a common bawdy house it actually has to be a common bawdy house, not a faux bawdy house. :)

The other thing (I would think) is that in order to charge you with being in a common baudy house they would first have to prove that it actually is a common baudy house, which might be hard to do for an independent's incall unless they actually make use of her services to establish that. But then they would hardly be likely to come storming in the next day just to get YOU.

a bawdy house can be a phone booth a car or a railway boxcar
a lady told me her emails were read in court she wouldn't even discuss anything in an email

a sting takes months and months and months.
cops sit out side a house for months collecting pictures and plate numbers
and this kind of operation is reserved for crack houses and trick pads that the neighbors have bitched about

single indepent girls are more likely the target of a bored cop sitting at his desk all warm and cozy and he sees her ad and phones her up and sees if he can rattle her chain or shake the trees.
or maybe just have some fun

The criminal code is the criminal code & until the court process is complete, it hasn't changed. The OP asked if he could be charged, not whether he would be charged. The likelihood of any charges being pressed at present are likely slight to nil. But different people have different tolerance of risk & so for some, even slight is too risky.

Be found naked by police in a MP or micro with SP found to be trafficked & your odds of being charged with something just might go up. It may be an assault charge rather than a charge under the prostitution laws, but that would be cold comfort to the guy wanting to steer clear of police involvement. However, by choosing to steer clear of situations that violate the sections of the criminal code I listed, one is also avoiding pretty much all other situations that might draw the eye of LE or just being caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.

As for the Ontario court striking things down, only parts of it. Only parts. Like, you still cannot hire yourself a 12 year old hooker, nor can you try to hire someone who is not already in the sex trade. No part of the procuring laws were struck down. What was struck down (and now under appeal & thus not definitively decided) were the laws regarding bawdy houses, communicating for the purposes of prostitution and living off the avails of prostitution (which I did not include in my earlier post because it has no bearing on the customer).

Communications (the public solicitation one) were not affected. They were part of the challenge, but failed to make it through the 2nd act (appeals court).

As you say, the other two laws are on hold (as in still in effect) until at least March 2013. Apparently it takes that long for the government to recover from the shock of losing both the first and the second cases, and to come up with another argument to keep the laws intact.

And it is, unless this hits the Supreme Court of Canada of course, only ever affected Ontario clients and sps and anyone working for or living off of sps. :)
