I'm going to have some free time in Vancouver the near future. Having never tried an AMP before, I was kinda interested in checking one out. I've also never been to a micro, and I was thinking of trying one out as well. Till now, I've only tried SPs in Seattle.
What do you guys familiar with the area recommend for a weekend getaway? Which AMP or micro is good for a fairly young newb? I like the PSE, if possible. Any protocols that need to be followed, other than common sense? Can I call ahead and see who's working? What are the hours of AMPs?

Thanks!

The two AMP's that have been getting the best reviews lately seem to be Swan Lake and Prosper City. Both have been review many times so I would suggest doing a search on both places and seeing what may pique your interest. Generally the hours of operation for AMP's is about 11am to midnight. You could phone ahead to book an attendant, but often they will ask you how you heard of them, plus if you show up, you can usually take a look at the lineup... ;)

It'll be a lot harder to find information on micros here on PERB and the reviews that you do find often won't have contact information rendering them virtually useless. I have a couple to suggest (check your PM) and you can take your chances by picking up a Sing Tao Daily newspaper, which is our local Chinese newspaper found at most downtown 7-11's. Don't worry if you can't read Chinese, the ads in the classified section will be obvious to everyone and the phone numbers are quite legible. Some places make a big deal about not seeing non-Asians, but most don't. You'll just have to call around and be patient.

Enjoy your visit to Vancouver.
