i checked this out and while the questions are a little "loaded"...ie- how SHOULD prostitution be regulated?...not sure it should be regulated...but i am sure the government will want some kind of regulations....
the author/ researcher seems to be non abolitionist....he seems to be seeking ways to promote a safer industry for all who participate.
he has no affiliation with any of the health services who work with sex workers or with any health services at all so its not a health research paper per seh and also has no research ethics review information and no information about confidentiality...suggesting he does not have alot of experience working with our community and does not have a clear understanding of ethics in research around this issue.
that said, its a balanced survey and has lots of useful graphs etc that could be valuable in describing the demographics of our community....
he seems to be interested in lobbying the government on a number of issues i find interesting.
perhaps if rick could describe the ways he has planned to protect our confidentiality and what he intends to use the results of his survey for, we could make a better informed decision about taking part....
rick, do you have ethics review board approval? have you written an information statement about the purpose of the research and what the results will be used for? could you post it here? how are you protecting the confidentiality of participants?
also, how were the questions developed?
no offense intended rick and as i said , you seem to have good intentions but this community has been researched to death and sometimes that research is actually used to harm us thus the reason i have some questions for you about this work and whether you plan to publish or profit from it....
