It is I believe an aged old scam carried over from the CL personals into LL and I am sure other websites. Invariably if there is only an email address, usually a gmail address, you can be pretty sure you will get a dialog with some hinky other email addresses followed up by a "to make sure I am safe I need you to register at xxxscamxxxyourxxxcard dot com.
