Just gotta love even the homer media jumping off the bandwagon, ie Jihn Garrett & Tom Larschield lol. Some of our brave captain's quotes:

'we were a better team'
'i'm improving--it's not 7 goals like last year'
'we had lots of turnovers'

what a frigging irresponsible spoiled egotistical brat-- as Nick Kypreos disapprovingly said, why not admit that you couldve played better'?

That's why as long as this overrated goalie keeps this shifty attitude, our Nucks will never advance far in the playoffs. Let's see those ugly BW who thought it was a great management decision to name him captain. Even the professional media writers have conceded the pressure of being captain probably had an effect on his performance.

Do the BW CH KH realize that almost all goalies don't even deal with the media on game day? And how's he supposed to rally the team when he gets pulled as much as he did this past season? Gillis & AV have just as much to blame for such poor management. The same frigging idiot who offered Sundin $20 for 2 years. Yes, that's the kind of management I want as an owner, overseeing a $60million salary cap.

And yet those sad fans at GM Place still think this was a great team lol

The team has been pathetic 39 of 40 years.
The team has had a long history of bad moves and bad management. They are always overrated and I love how this city has the fantasy of how the CANNOTS will win the Stanley Cup.

One thing for sure!! They desparately need major depth on the d- line, hard hitting fast forwards and maybe package up some players for some young prospects or create better trades. I can think of at least 5 players I'd unload!
Do you dream in colour or black & white?

Top notch D are not a dime a dozen
Fast power forwards are a rare find
Who gives up young prospects with out something good in return
You are talking about a complete revamp of the team

What they need is a Captain (maybe Kessler) but not Lou, A Coach, and a top line D man (No Demtria should free up some cap room)

Players only work hard when their contract is up. Having sign a big contract, they don't give a shit after that. Luongo and Kesler proved that theory. I wished that Players contracts should be based on their performance in the playoffs. For example for next year, Louie should be paid 5 mil for the reular season .... and get his other 5 million if he wins the Stanley cup. i am pretty sure, he will stand on his head and do whatever it takes to win.

I have said all season, NO goalie is worth $7.5 million. You can get a very decent goalie for $3.5 million and 2 good defencemen for $2 million each. That was what they needed all season and especially in the playoffs due to injuries, was solid defencemen. The drop off after the top 5 D-men was too much. They keep bringing in decent goalies like Raycroft, as backup. In my opinion they should have started Raycroft this whole series. Lu's ego did not allow him to turn down the C when offered to him. He should have deferred to someone else, and work on his game instead.

I'Ve said it time and time again....No guaranteed contracts. It's the only way to get out from bad signings and to motivate the athletes. If this was the case Lou would be cut and he would get a gig with another club for about 3-4 Mill instead of 10 Mill next year. Guaranteed contracts and no trade clauses screw fans who pay the salaries.

Think before you type bud. Know the game............trades, deals whatever have been done time and time again !
The kids are playig in the WHL and CHL because they aren't ready for the NHL, spare me the 'Know the Game' when you think junior players are going to make a difference in the next year or would have this year.

Philly and the Habs have't done anything more than the Canucks have this year yet, so don't count those chickens till they are hatched.

As for trade deals, less and less are being made, mostly it is picking up old guys from failing teams so they can grab prospects. GM's aren't trading away young prospects because of the salary cap

When you're his teamates do you really want a dickhead captain like this who believes it's never his fault? Someone should straighten this clown out .....it's really getting to his head. Someone should grab this sob by the neck and tell him he's really not that good and it's partly luongos fault that they lost.

Todays province their article had Luongo say "No matter what happened out there, I leave with my head up, not like the last year," Luongo said. "i battled for 60 minutes. I kepted it under seven goals."

There was some good banter on the 1040 post game show. They interpreted Lou's "less than 7" comment as being gallows humour, and I agree. And his comments about his team mates always come off as finger-pointing, as a side effect of his positions as goalie/Captain. I expect him to be replaced as Captain next year.
Biggest failure? DEMITRA! His turnover was exact moment the game became un-winnable. This, from the man who turned in the hottest offensive performance when playing for his country in the Olympics. HELLO? We actually PAY YOU to play!

Obviously Luongo's comments were ironic. If you saw the interview he was indeed disappointed in his performance and he did not have a very good game, anyone could see that. But the more telling thing is that Luongo's weak performance did not make the Canucks band together and try and win the game, instead they largely gave up. A lot of players on the team did not perform as hard as they could have and none of them seemed to rally around their goalie or Salo who came to play with an obviously painful injury. Sure there is blame aplenty but it doesn't all rest on Luongo's shoulders

Exactly! I was like what the fuck? Hawks got the rookie goalie to start the playoffs! Result is winning series or at least 7 game loss with a decent performance!
Yeah, and what's with playing a one nut Sami? Dude just had his testicles blown up by a puck 2 nights ago, and AV is sending him out on the ice? He played exactly like a dude that had one good testicle and a huge hurting in the other one. A 100% call up from the Moose is still better than a 50% Sami. Also, after that stinker in game 3, they should have started Raycroft, and benched Lu. AV should show some balls. Even with 1, I think Sami has more balls than AV. This is coaching?

Too many posts to quote so I wont bother. In short all of you should quit your whining.....the one thing that nobody even toched upon is that Chicago is actually a VERY good team now.Toews and Kane play hard every game...for many many years Chicago was one of the shittiest teams in the NHL....but good management/good drafting and patience has paid off for the franchise and the team is now a legitimate cup contender due to depth/skill/grit.

As for the canucks....well for starters Luongo did not play to his potential and he is not worth 7.5 million a season. The Sedins are a couple of fancy dancy pussy swedes who WONT do the job that players like Toews and Kane do with relish/zeal/skill.

The better team won....get over it.

At least Vancouver got to enjoy 2 rounds of playoff hockey....Calgary got jack shit....mainly due to very bad management over the last few years.Paying Phaneuf 6 million a season is worse than paying Luongo 7.5 million and then doing another shitty deal with the Maple Leafs and getting the shitty end of the stick poked in the eye....the Jokinen trade was even worse....giving up a decent prospect for the rights to sign Boumeester to an expensive contract was like a kick in the nuts....oh yeah and NOT signing Camilerri was so smart...yeah why would the Flames possibly need a proven 30+ goal scorer who currently has the most goals in the playoffs and is leading his 8th seeded team to pretty impressive wins.

With a couple smart trades the canucks could be a contender....that and make the Sedins play hard and gritty (if that is possible)

SR you got one thing right in your rant, Vancouver got beat by a better team. The Sedins play hard and are far from Pussies. Luongo will be making more than 7.5 Million next year(10 million, highest in the league) and you weren't complaining about Dion when he was playing like one of the top D-men in the league. As for the rest of your thoughts...................................................................................

Canucks future

there is no instant soup here. the team we all want - solid D,gritty/fast FWD....etc. this takes time with smart draft picks that takes 4-5 yrs to mature. look at chicago, that team was a bottom dweller for about 7-8 years until about 2 yrs ago. it took them a long time to built this team! with the right management.

i believe canucks have some very promising youngsters coming in the line up in the next 2-3 years.
i also believe raymond, kesler, grabner, weldwood will be the foundation of the future canuck(if weldwood does not leave).

i am all for waiting for a new transformation, no more half ass trade(remember Sundin last year?) or stop gap solution. if it takes 3-4 years, so be it, shit, i have waited for 35 yrs, what is 4 more.

I'd take the Sedin's over Toews and Kane

Really? Why?

giddyup
Both Sedin's are higher skilled players than Toews and Kane

Toews and Kane play on a better team over all this year

Next year will be different as they are both 6.5 mil and Kieth becomes a 8 mil player

Good players become great when there is a 2nd and 3rd line that can cause damage

Some of you guys need to give your heads a shake.

The Canucks went to round 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs, and lost in game 6. And some talk about how terrible the team and players are.

Washington didn't make it past round 1. So that must mean Ovechkin sucks, using the same logic.

Pittsburg lost in game 7 of round 2. They must be terrible as well, using the same logic. Must be time to trade Crosby and Malkin!!

Guys, its sport. Entertainment.
I've thoroughly enjoyed the season. Wish we could have enjoyed it a little longer, but that's not the way it worked out.
Look forward to the next season.

Cheers.
