Kicking Horse Pass

Has anybody been over the new bridge in the Kicking Horse Pass yet? I am going to Vancouver this weekend and, well, I am scared of heights. Yeah I can admit it.
Last time I was through there it looked like this:

Which I must say, kinda freaked me out looking up at it as I passed through.
And now it's open and looks like this:

<--- I mean look how small that truck looks down there.

Is it freaky? This is the only part of the trip I'm NOT looking forward to.

was just being finished when i went under 3 weeks ago.300 feet up but you clip along pretty fast you wont see much ,close your eyes and hold your breath lol thats what i do..

LOL It scares the hell out of me. Sure, it's concrete, but those pillars look so small for something so high. I'll put the car on cruise control and have a nap in that section. If I'm sleeping, I won't know I'm dead. LOL

Bridge Fear

It looks a lot worse from underneath than it does when you drive over it. The fear of high bridges is called pontophobia and I have it. My heart rate must go up to 160 when I drive over the Lion's Gate in Vancouver but I'm dammed if I'm going to let an irrational fear control me.

Could be worse, I believe the tallest span is in France, also recently opened? Looks frickin scary compared to that. And yeah, now I'm gonna keep searching until I find a link etc. that shows just how high it is - I seem to remember something like 800 ft? From the pictures - literally in the clouds!

Don't tell her those concrete pillars are hollow... Can always drive south to Radium and then back up to Golden to get around it.

I would personally just fly. It's so cheap and easy to do a CGY-VAN trip. I drove from Vancouver to Radium this summer and it was such a pain in the ass to spend 9-10 hrs in a car (each way), for just a 5 day trip. Ugh...never again.

Except for that bridge, I love the drive through BC. I think BC is a beautiful province for driving. I have flown over a few times, but it's just not the same. Westjet has some awesome deals, but the drive is great. I'll just have to get over my fear of that bridge .

You won't even know you have gone over it. No biggy. My SO is terrified of heights and kept asking when we were going over the bridge. Once we got to the climb to Golden she realized that we already had.
