Australia's richest man, and biggest gambler died on Boxing day. While he didn't drink, he lived Jack London's creed: "I'd rather burn up in a blaze like a comet, rather than fade away like a dying planet. On the Friday before Xmas, he put together the biggest TV sports deal in the history of Aussie land.

I think that the story about him that I appreciate the most is as follows:

He was playing the Black Jack table against the house at the Vegas MGM Grand with each of the six hands bet at $50,000. However, Kerry and the house had agreed that on this table, each $100 chip would be worth $25 K. Therefore he was betting only two chips per hand except when he doubled down etc. A boorish Texan wanted to know why he couldn't play six hands against the house also. He said that he could afford to bet more than $200. He got more obnoxious and started to make a scene.

He said do you know who I am. I am worth $100 million. Kerry turned around, looked him in the eye and said loud enough for all to hear: "Want to flip for it??" According to Kerry, (who at that time was worth about $2 billion) he was always disappointed that the bloke didn't take him up on it.

Rest in Peace

I read a story once about the amounts that Packer would lose in Vegas($9million in one weekend) and win ($3million in another weekend.)
Also read that Packer would fly in REALLY high priced escorts for those weekends just to be arm candy. I wonder if his family wants to adopt.
