would it have killed anyone to first answer his question then direct him to the 411 section for the next time without sounding like a condescending ass?

I hear you, but I've been seeing so many posts in the wrong sections lately that my patience is wearing a bit thin. It's a pet peeve of mine, but you're right, there's really no need to bite the newbies, so consider this my apology to member. Edit: I should mention that member isn't technically a newbie since he's been a member as long as me, but he's clearly not on the boards very often, so for the purposes of deciding whether he's been around long enough to know better, I'm considering him a newbie.
