Just watched LOTR - Return of the King

First of all, be sure to empty your bladder and colon before the film starts - it's a 3 and a 1/2 hour movie. But those 3.5 hours fly by very fast. Excellent, excellent movie, full of kick-ass battles and heart-wrenching emotion. Well done!

Now I have to wait about a year for the Extended DVD.

The scene that really sticks in my mind are the oliphaunts marching into the battle at Minas Tirith and Theoden nearly shitting himself seeing them. The ultimate climax of the film is very memorable too...I won't spell it out because I don't want to spoil for other posters.

Hmmm....I only found just one homo-erotic reference in the entire trilogy, and that was in the first movie:

Saruman: "You will taste man-flesh!"
Uruk-hai: "Yaaay!"

I watched it again. The Rohan army arriving and then charging into battle with their horns blowing - that almost brought a tear to my eye, and has been stuck in my head since then.

I caught this film in the THX theatre at Silver City - the sound is so much superior. The Black Rider screeching nearly turned me deaf!

The only thing I didn't like about this second go-around is the audience. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to share the movie theatre experience with other people, thanks to the inconsiderate fucksticks who can't shut up nor sit still during a film.
