Does anyone have the new ipad (or other comparable)? I'm looking at getting one or possibly the iphone. The problem is I do have a company phone that does alot so I wouldn't necessarily need another phone (unless I need to call discreet numbers) and I already have a laptop so and ipad might be redundant. Just seeing if anyone has any opinions.

Or you can wait a couple of months and get the new iPad with the camera and a few hot other features. Im also hearing that the RIM product is supposed to be pretty hot!

In addition, if you can wait, the current iPad is due for an update pretty soon so if you're still interested in that, I'd wait to see what Apple comes out with in the next few weeks

Well, I have both, an Ipad and an Iphone, I love them both, the Iphone is a great phone, works flawless for me ( Iphone4 ) and the IPAD is a great TOY!!, I emphasize TOY, although I can get my work email, and I have some office apps that allow me to work on Spreadsheets and Docs, but with that in mind it really is a toy, excellent browsing tool, very good to take on the road and store your digital pics ( with camera adapter ). and stay in email communication.

Excellent idea for a thread and I have been pondering the same thing too. I am going to dump my Nokia smartphone soon and I have been struggling with is to have an ordinary phone with an iPad. Seems logical to me.

I agree that the iPad is a toy but great for browsing, emails, pictures etc etc. Not really intended as a 'work tool' but recently one of my colleagues and I visited a key customer. Discussion became technical and my colleague had all the information readily at hand on the iPad. So I could say as a sales tool it is quite helpful. It was much better than flipping through glossy brochures.

Hey Nina. Hope you are well. I have an IPad with an app called Whistle that allows me to make calls. BTW I really like my IPad . It is not a substitute for a laptop however. In fact you need a laptop to be able to use the iPad. I also have a Mac Air which is very cool.

Very good sales tool, we just bought a couple for the sales team at work! Light and has 3g so you don't need to search for wi-fi if client doesn't have it

The iPad is fun, I find it a lot easier to play games on it than on my laptop. The graphics are wonderful and I like the fact that it's the perfect size and can be taken anywhere with no hassle.

As a web experience ......it sucks! The sites I like have flash, so I can't view then...constantly crashes......

Forget about using it outside...

I'm a power user only got the 32 G...ran out of memory pretty quick...

I'm impressed with the battery life and really like the music editing ability on it. Use that all the time.

the new ipad will be announced at the end of the month, but why buy that pos where as the black berry playbook has flash plus at least two times the power.

Depends on what your needs are and if you can. Personally I ended up getting a macbook air, but I'll probably end up getting the 2nd generation iPad.

I won't consider an iPad until they put a USB port on it!
Agreed. Most likely going to give my iPad to the kid and get myself a BB playbook. Preliminary reviews on the playbook looks outstanding. They say the browser is second to none!

For all the one's with the RIM hardon. There are several problems with it. "The first being you can’t fetch e-mail or access other personal information management data (address book, BBM, memos, calendar, and tasks, for example) in their native apps without pairing it to a BlackBerry smartphone in a process they’re calling Bridge. Bridge doesn’t so much as sync data on both devices as it simply explodes information stored on the handset onto the bigger screen. As soon as they’re unpaired, the PIM data on the PlayBook disappears. This means if you have anything but a BlackBerry, the Wi-Fi PlayBook might not end up being an optimal standalone product, unless you hold browser-based apps and everything but PIM in high esteem. The fact that it’s a Wi-Fi-only device may also be a part of the issue. if you don’t have an active SIM card (or activated EV-DO account) in a BlackBerry phone, you can’t even use it on Wi-Fi alone – the device is that dependent on the carrier,"
While it may have 2X the horsepower Flash is still not very optimized and will chew up the battery quite quickly. PlayBook is still not shipping and there are also a slew of other issues with it, so it may be quite a while before the product actually ships although I did play with the one at CES. Not quite an iPad replacement as it was supposed to be.

I find it funny how many fan boys covet the BB playbook, when it hasn't even shipped or been touched by that many people in the world yet.

I think for BB it will be a neat extention of their phone, but not a general use piece like the iPad is.

That said. if you can wait, wait till the ipad2 and playbook get released then choose from what is on the market.

Otherwise, go buy an ipad or galexy or whatever now and start enjoying it.

Waiting is kind of like saying your going to have sex next month.. fine to say it, but not much fun and doesn't contribute to the economy (assuming your not buying on credit).

Best electronic purchase I ever made; great for surfing, email, navigation, as well as more than basic word processing. Only downside, does not support Flash; but huge upside major battery life.
