lower mainland.
Watched a "made in Canada," documentary between classic movies on TV the other day.
While I'm unsure of the exact year, it was featuring the Calgary Stampede in pre-maple leaf flag days, so might have been the 50's or early 60's.

Sprinkled throughout were references to the Stampede and Stampede like activities.

I had to smile when hearing "on top for 10 seconds," and "bareback," "race to the finish," and "fitting climax," from the narrator.

Completely innocuous verbiage for the time, but now? Completely different meanings.
