Hi there! I'm new at this and need some help. I'm sorry in advance if this gets to graphic but I want to get to the bottom of my problem. Hopefully one of the nurses can help.

First of all I want to mention I do not indulge in sexual activity with escorts. A few days ago I noticed that when I pull my foreskin back I have a couple of skin tags on my foreskin. Right around the area where the foreskin is attached to the head. They do not bother me, no irritation, notihng. I am sexually active with one partner. What can this be? Will they just go away? How do I get rid of them? Is there a product I can use to get rid of them? Like i said they dont hurt and they can not be seen, its just the fact knowing that their there is bugging me.

Thank you for your help

Hi Thatwaseasy

It is hard to diagnose conditions over the internet as I would need to see the “skin tags”. What I can do is to give you some suggestions on what it could be and what you can do next.

It is possible that the “skin tags” are just skin tags which are nothing to be concerned about from a health point of view. A doctor could remove these if they are bugging you.

Another common condition depending on the exact location on your penis is “pearly penile papules”, these are normal bumps around the head of the penis.

Probably the most common cause of “skin tags” on the penis is from genital warts (HPV). Genital warts come in different sizes and shapes and can look like skin tags. Genital warts are very common and pass form genital and oral sex.

We generally do not see genital warts as a health concern but that most people would like them removed because of how they look, similar to warts on the hands or other parts of the body. The most common way we remove them is by freezing them off with liquid nitrogen.

Condoms will reduce your risk of getting genital warts but since they pass from skin to skin contact during sex and condoms do not cover the entire area, condoms do not give complete protection.

Thatwaseasy I would just recommend that you come into one of our clinics or see a doctor. They would be able to look at them and let you know what it is. You would need to find out what they are first before knowing what to use to get rid of them.

Hi Thatwaseasy

Pearly penile papules are just normal bumps that don’t go away.

Genital warts are caused by HPV. Most of the time your body’s immune system will get rid of the genital wart on its own. This can take a number of months or longer to happen.

When people come to the clinic I usually recommend treating the genital warts with liquid nitrogen. The reason I do this is that I have seen a few situations were the warts have grown much bigger or multiplied in number before the person immune system has kicked in.
