There's no real trick to it and im not off to the gym everyday. Just changed my mindset to eating when i have to and when im hungry. I use to snack all day on chips, peanuts, popcorn, and eat 3 big meals. Now it's just two reg average healthy meals,no junk food (like pop, chips, popcorn, nachos), and one of those diet drinks/shakes or bars. Anybody have any thoughts or advice? Goal is 20 pounds and im half way there which is a shocker.

on yer ignore list
years ago i went on a big weight loss venture and it worked. i found during the weight loss period that i could physically feel the difference when i pinched my belly roll if i had as little as one helping of fries with my lunch during the week

look out for fatty foods - like the snacks you mention - and oily foods (because oil is a form of fat) and sugary foods because the body only has to extract the equivalent of one water molecule from sugar to get a form of fat

you will continue to be surprised at how quickly the 'extra' fat comes off your body - but then once that's all burned off, if you want to get buff - you've got your work cut out for you! then you have to start burning off the 'deep storage fat' (some people call it the brown fat) and it really can only be burned off by elevating your metabolic level through hard exercise and continuing to control your food intake

the guys i feel sorry for are the guys with the big hard protruding bellies that actually feel hard when you bump into them? that is known as 'adipose' fat, meaning that it doesn't occur beneath the skin - it occurs inside the abdominal wall where it forms as deposits all around the internal organs and in the worst cases actually impairs the organs' function! i hope i'm not too insulting to anybody when i say OMG...

but its all worth it - good on you so far and i wish you the best... :)

Sometimes i have two shakes in a day and two meals like you are. I like your routine and Im treating myself once a week also. Figured out im no longer 18 years old and my metabolism isnt as good as before:(

I've dropped 2 dress sizes (I don't bother with the scale), by eating 2 meals/2shakes a day, add to that my usual crazy exercise schedule. I've also cut back on grains - 1-2 servings a day, and the rule is, only after exercise (I do 1-2 things a day). I'm eating very cleanly - however once a week I do have a treat :D

Lol I was saying the same thing to friends a few weeks ago, I lost about 45 pounds over the last 2 years and I did it primarily cutting back the portion size and eliminating certain things from my diet. We would get together once a week and order pizza and at that time I could eat half of of a large and not even feel full.

I pretty much started by eating 2/3 my usual portion size and as time went my stomach shrank to where eating 2 pieces and a salad would make me feel full.

Things I dropped from my diet

chips
Ice cream(maybe once a month and has to be real ice cream)
milk chocolate
sugar sweets& candy
cut back on soda may have one every 2 days or so
no more oreo cookies(because I can't eat just 2 :/)

Now I stand at 6'2" and weigh 180 lbs which is 3 lbs more than I weighed when I graduated HS and I notice the difference in my movement, all back discomfort I had is gone and my metabolism has hit it's second wind giving me more energy. Took me 17 years to put it on and just over 2 years to get it off. I plan on not letting myself get any lower and no higher than 185.

Oh another incentive for losing weight is that sex gets better(don't get tired as fast) and for us guys can make our penis' look longer as there is no extra fat there making it look like a turtle with a short neck:D

Grats LAG on dropping the weight but make sure you dont drop to fast as it can cause a bit of imbalance as your body has to deal with the toxins released as the fat cells atart to shrink, drinking lots of water or vitamin water will allow you to make the flushing process easier for your body.

If you can keep that 10pds off its a great accomplishment.

I've been trying to lost 2-3 pounds for years and it never works.

Im taking greens + and other greens products. Have some greens in my two meals i eat but fruit is something i dont eat enough or rarely have.

Get lots of veggies, and a couple of servings of fruit. You might want to try going with roasted almonds, instead of salt though. Salt can be quite detrimental - but baby steps... one thing at a time :) Sounds like you have made a lot of great improvements.

I do some light excercising every week. Banging chicks is excercise to me lol

You can safely lose anywhere from 1-3lbs per week. 10lbs in 2 weeks is very rapid and you are most likely losing muscle mass and water weight or bone density from improper dieting. If you are exercising and losing inches, but not pounds, your are increasing your muscle ratio and getting healthier/stronger. You may find your muscle defitnition is lacking by the end result of 20 pounds lost if this is the way you intend to lose weight. You should be combining cardio and strength training with 3 meals and 2 snacks per day. If you eat two meals per day you are running risk of lowering your metabolism so you acutally GAIN weight in the long term because your metabolism is so low and you might end up crash dieting.

Healthy lifestyle choices, not restricting yourself, will result in an overall healthy bodytype and weight.

If you want to lose weight quickly, eat a lot of fruit. In fact, you should be treating fruit as your number 1 food source to make you full, instead of starchy carbs and meat.

You should also eat salads.

You should: eliminate all processed foods, eliminate butter, eliminate fried foods, eliminate any bread that is not 100% whole wheat, eliminate fast foods, eliminate candies, pop, chips, etc, eliminate white rice and don't eat too many potatoes.

Eat only fruits, vegetables, skim dairy products, soy products, fish, brown rice, etc.

Don't go to East Indian, Thai, Chinese, Malaysian, Mexican restaurants or anything like them. Also don't go to White Spot, Burger King, etc.

You'll lose all that fat in no time at all, and you'll keep it off and be the healthiest you've ever been. You won't need to buy Greens or any supplements, besides, they're expensive. Eat naturally instead.

I'm not surprised. The foods you've mentioned in this and your other post have huge calorie counts. For a lot of people, simply eliminating the junk food makes a huge difference on a person's daily caloric intake. Good for you though, hope you can keep it up.

I dont eat out at all now and cook for myself. Not being able to eat out is very difficult though. When i was bone thin years ago i only ate what when im hungry and what i needed.

Coincidentally, I've started intensive weight training coupled with fairly strict carb restriction..about 2-3 weeks ago, and have lost about 15-20 lbs weight while substantially increasing muscle. I feel like a fat-burning muscle-building machine. I'm finding that the gym can be great stress relief...my worries melt away while I'm pumping heavy iron.....and in my current vocation they pay me to do it. LOL.....I can get used to this:)

Actually the elliptical greatly exaggerates how many calories you're burning.
The ultimate fat burner is sex, you can burn more calories having 15-20 min of sex over a one hour workout :)
