The main message of these truckers is directed at Gordon Campbell to drop the fuel taxes....mid-year after the govt's budget (including these taxes' revenues) is set.

While I happen to agree there is too much tax on gas, the timing of the message and who it is directed at is not lost on me. The election is not 3 weeks off and a bunch of guys are very publicly drawing a link between high gas prices and Campbell in the public eye...

Somehow me thinks this is about something other than a purely economic matter, and that a bunch of dumb truck drivers didn't dream this up.

Since the NDP is no longer taking orders from Moscow (I'm kidding here), I will venture the opinion that someone from the bad old days still in the wings of the party locally, like, I dunno, Dave Barrett? or Glen Clark? might have dreamed up this little cavalcade.

"dumb truck drivers" a negative and undeserved stereo type.there are many very well educated people driving trucks but you obviously dont have a clue or you wouldnt have puked out something as moronic as your last post.

Show me a smart truck driver....and don't most of them snort coke to stay alert on the long hauls? Maybe if they spent less on nose candy gas prices wouldn't be such an issue.

Now sod off...

If you listened to the local media in the weeks running up to this demonstration, you would know that the demon behind it was the Teamsters. Ads were aired on popular stations like CKNW, with syrupy overtones, playing the brotherhood card between themselves and independent truckers. Of course, when the trucks were coralled, union circulars were handed out to promote signups. If all the truckers in this province were dancing to the same tune they thought, this demonstration would have had a more crippling result, like a system-wide shutdown for a week.

It's funny how the bad-mouthing between organized and independent truckers has made such a dramatic about-face in recent years. I guess misery loves company...

And... if millionaireceo and others like him, listened to his radio more often instead of the lastest Rap or Hip-Hop regurgitations thumping through his subwoofer, he would have been aware of this, and maybe even caught the odd traffic report telling him what streets to avoid while this was going down, instead of whining about it here afterwards.

*millionaireceo... sheesh... where did he dream up that handle?*

You guys are flaming someone for calling himself "millionaireceo" when a good number of PERBerts are using handles that allude to their alleged sexual prowess and mushrooming penis sizes?

So, hornydude, how many truckers do you actually know that you can base such a broadly ignorant stereotype on?

your on the right track maury the teamsters are a major motivating force behind the protests.this action is just the start, the control of the olympic related trucking is the big prize as far as the teamsters are concerned.the more drivers they organize the more power they have when they shut them down during olympic construction.no trucks no olympics simple as that.the repercussions are huge and teamsters know they will have the govt by the balls if they play their cards right.the independents are the wild card, they wont be easy to organize and the teamsters know it.its going to be interesting to say the least.

Yeah I regreted that I didn't listen to the radio. Come on, it was 9:30am, who would know that the traffic was that bad.
I for once thought, there was a terrorist attack inside the tunnel. I see a lot of truckers pulling over the side and cops everywhere as well.

:)

Anyways, I just hate truckers, not because of just the strike. A lot of other things. I got my windshield damage because of this truck that was carrying gravel. :( piss me off. fucker.
I can't even sue them. WTF....unfair....

So the damage is around 200 dollars for the window crack. Whos going to pay for that? me.....

Believe it or not, this is the third times that happened to me and all of them are related to commerical trucks or just regular trucks. I hate driving behind a truck. I stay far away from them.

You would have been better off keeping you mouth shut, because now you've made yourself into a total retard.

A trucker pissed you off. Are you telling me another motorist hasn't pissed you off? How about a motorcyclist? Or a pedistrian? Maybe a bus driver?

Yes, some motorists piss me off but they have never damage my windshield with a gravel. Why should I keep my mouth shut. This is just my opinion about truckers. Unless your a trucker, I can see how piss off you are. Well thats your problems. I try to stay far away from truckers while driving is my problem.

How you think I feel when my windshield is damage cause 3 times cause of some trucks?
Do I cry or protest or strike? No.... Its called BAD LUCK and face with it. Pay the fine and live on.

Everyone should cool down okie. End of commets. I don't want this to be a world war 3 threads.

Fair enough. ;)

I sympathize with you on rocks being thrown up on your windshield as well; we've all had our share of those. I avoid driving behind any kind of truck now, including Explorers or others similar, even pulling over if I have to. Their wide tire grooves trap pebbles, and usually fling them out at highway speeds onto unsuspecting cars. No amount of empathy from an Insurance Adjuster will make up for the $200, and lost time...
