A couple of weeks back there was a thread posted looking for a remedy. I posted on that thread something that I had heard about some time back and had tried once or twice a long time ago with success so I believed it worked. Then I went out and got my own sun burn (accidentally). I put a hot tub in a couple of years back so I jumped in about 4 hrs after I burned (when I noticed the stinging). I was in for about 40 min. I was pretty pink going in and coming out also but now 2 weeks later I have no peeling. The next day all of the sting was gone. I also had the pleasure of chucking back a couple of big glasses of rum and coke on ice while I drank the burn off of my back!

I think it draws the blood to the surface and that somehow helps to fix the damaged skin. I don't know if it works for really bad burns and I also know that it is important to get into the hot tub (mine was 102 F) as quickly as possible and I think a little hotter would be better.
